I just wanted to say thanks to Bruffyboy for showing us this site- I'm now a reviewer, reviewing only books and music etc that I know well. Cheers! :beer:
• I might just bump you up the list in the new users to be reviewed queue. Thank you all for your discussion, suggestions, hints and advice.

Yes... I am watching, and reading. And learning. I appreciate all the advice.

Ooops - just pmed you james to ask if I could be considered for review, then logged in to CBU and saw that I've already been approved as a reviewer! So thanks very much. I'll take a look later today and write a few more reviews.
• Product Review Limits – First 10 reviews
Take a look at the Nokia N95 cell phone page. Currently it has over 300 reviews. This page could cost us as much as $300. It would take us an awfully long time to make back that investment. There are many other products on the site that have similar review numbers. In order to control product specific costs we have implemented a cap for reviews payments by product. ComparedBy.Us will continue to pay $0.25 for quick reviews and $1.00 for extended reviews only for the first 10 reviews on a product. Reviews submitted for any product that already has 10 editorially accepted reviews will not be eligible for the Member Incentive Plan. This change will take effect with our code update today.
I think that's a good plan and makes a lot of sense!
Category Payment Adjustments – Music, Movies and Books
We make significantly less revenue on Music, Movies and Books products than we do on any other product on our site. Even with the product review limits instituted above we would still find it difficult to break even within these categories. As a result we are lowering the review bonus for products in the Music, Movies and Books categories to $0.25 for the first 10 reviews effective January 16th. A system update on January 31st will update your earnings summary page totals for any reviews submitted to these categories as of January 16th.
Most of my reviews so far have been book reviews but I can understand the need to cut back if the revenue isn't being earned there. I think the fact that the rookie role is now just an introductory role, and as soon as you've been reviewed editorially you are moved up to an accepted role in the community, then that also stops the "how will I reach the minimum payment now if I can only write 10 reviews worth $0.25 a month?!" thinking.

The decision to remove the first review bonus makes sense for the time being (same for the member referral bonus) but hopefully that will be as temporary as is hinted at because it's nice for a member to get a bit of a bonus for being quick off the mark for new products.

Good updates for the community I think but more than that, it's good to have a definitive structure for how things will be working from now on.

EDIT: I forgot to add something that was on my mind when writing reviews earlier this month. When you write them you can structure the review properly with paragraphs to make it easier to read (long reviews especially!) but when the review is submitted it all becomes one big mass of text, which can put people off reading the longer, more in-depth, ones and that's a shame. Does anyone else feel this way and is there an easy fix for the way the text is formatted? Are html tags usable in the review box to set out paragraphs? I can't try that out myself as I'm still set as a rookie and can't submit any more.
£2 Savers Club no.91 = ?? (unknown until full and counted)
Review writing = £3.60 + $25.00
Myhpf = £4.45
STP = £1.82 v10.04

.

Indeed, the financial bonus of the first post is now over, but it was good while it lasted, and hopefully everyone managed to make a good bit from the conversion rate and higher than usual pay level. Now it's very close to pay day, so I will post back when I have the money in my account!

Where are they based? East cost or west? West not up yet, east only just. Give them time. I have no payment either... I presume they're doing it through paypal.

There's an announcement on the site:
We have a Good News, Bad News, Good News scenario today.

First piece of good news, if you have submitted a payment request and you are a Reviewer in good standing we are processing your payment requests today. There may be 1 or 2 of you we missed but more on that in a moment.
The bad news. We have still not completed processing all of the outstanding payment requests. If you are a Beginner it is likely that we have not yet completed a full editorial review of your content and therefore we have not been able to approve your payment requests. Yet.
More good news. We realize that many of you with outstanding payment requests will be disappointed so we will be doing a special payment process on February 10th for everyone whose payment requests were not processed today. That should give us enough time to complete an editorial review of ALL outstanding payment requests for the December 16th to January 20th pay period. This will include the 1 or 2 Reviewers who we may miss today.
Our current Paypal system allows us to process multiple payments in one transaction but we are experiencing some difficulties with unexpected errors. We are currently tracking down the problem with Paypal and expect to have it sorted out for the February 10th payment processing. In order to process today’s payments we may have to send each payment individually. Regardless, they will be processed today. It can take from 3-5 business days for Paypal to process the payments once they are submitted.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact me at editor@comparedby.us. Please be aware that I am still working through a large backlog of emails. I will do my best to respond to every email within 24 hours.
• It's before 10am where they're based and I will post on here the minute I am paid: as one of the few listed on the site as an approved 'reviewer', I should be paid pretty quick in theory!
