Hope you have a good holiday Lula-Hula, only 5 days till mine!

Kerfuffle I'm amazed by the £1 total annual spend!!

I've a new purchase to declare - £2.49 on a topshop jumper from a local charity shop. It is purple, with a gold bow knitted into the neckline. I've already worn it once, and love it! I did put back a £4.50 top as didn't want to blow the budget - clearly the challenge is working!

Update on my grey dress I bought in my first week of the challenge - it shrunk in the wash!! I know there's a reason I refuse to buy Primark clothes, no matter how cheap. Think it's criminal how badly made and disposable they are (plus it wasted £3.50 of my challenge fund!)
    Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89
    OPs 2011-2016 = £45K 2017 OPs = £9250.20
  • Hi all, I have enjoyed your posts from afar for sometime and have decided to join in in my own little way.
I pledge not to buy any new clothes for a year, starting from August 1st.
I have so many clothes ranging from size 8 to 14 that i need to sort them and myself out!
    Take care all

    Hi everybody,

Lula-Hula - thanks for updating my total, although I think I've wasted my money as I'm not too sure when I'm going to wear this skirt but as I've already cut the tags off and washed it then it means it's a keeper (for now).

    - it's easy to keep under the challenge budget when you don't have a job or a social life, lol. Hey ho.I'm getting handy with the needle and thread though.

    Miss-spent
    - welcome, I love your detailed signature, this is something I really should try to get to grips with.

Fedup - Only 4 months to go and into the last third of the year, and with 22.00 pounds and a few pence left you have just under the quarterly budget remaining, remain focused and I'm sure you'll meet your challenge.

    Good luck everybody.

    Toodles.

    Hi everybody,
I thought i was going to have to break my run on no spending on clothes whilst on hols as my board shorts zipper broke, but then my dad was lovely enough to give me $50 to replace them and I managed to buy board shorts and one of those swimmer spf tops and some undies with it so i was very pleased. My first new clothes for the year but still have not touched the $100 allotted. Thats how it works isn't it? I can consider my dads money as a present? Oh well now i am not sure, if it does come off just let me know. i wont be buying anything for ages anyway. Good luck everyone:j

    Hi, I thought you might find this interesting;
I went to a 'House of Colour' image day yesterday, all girly fun. A lot of the talk was about budgeting and the suggestion was that you spend money mainly on quality classic such as a burburry mac or channel suit which would last forever and, plan a year ahead.
    Clothes fall in three types;
    Classics top quality designer stuff
Trends -last about ten years and define a decade, think 80s shoulder pads, 70s flares, 00s ugg boots.
Fads-Cheap and cheerful, enjoy and throw away e.g leg warmers, rara skirts, boiler suits ponchos and the rule is that if you wore it the first time round then you are too old to wear it again!

Apparently the average spent per woman each year on clothes and beauty is £4000 but as I am a in a profession and earn my own money then I should allow myself approx £8000!( I'd rather have a new kitchen)

I was the only one who kept a running total and no-one believed how little I spent. It wasn't a day for thrifty talk so they were not impressed
A good suggestion was that all spending was done on a separate credit card to keep track .
I didn't mention my pledge to not buy any clothes for a year starting 1st August, I would have been expelled!
So a challenge then to maintain 'My Image' on nothing!
  • £4000! on clothes!! What!!!!!!!!! :rotfl:That's at least 10 years worth for me - even before this challenge!!!!

    Xmas Saver!
I'm honestly can believe how much I have wasted on clothes, I wore a black vest top last ngt, I'd brought it last yr, it had £25 price tag, and I'd got the white one to match..... now wouldn't even come off the hanger.

I'm in scruff bag at the mo, Bailey, (12week old Springer Spaniel), is teething, in a wk hes bit 2 prs shorts, 2 tops, and 6 prs knickers. Luckly wasn't wearing them!!

I still have money left in my budget.xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

    Hi.

    Long time

I in all honsestly never ever spend £100 on clothes in about a zillion years :o but a few months ago i bought flip flops, but they dont count?. So then i bought some socks, and they dont count either. To me all this would count as its more then i ever normally buy. I bought two tshirts, and they where £1.50 (so thats £3) to be added to my total :A

I bought another tshirt and trousers, they didnt fit, so i got the money back. I bought another pair of trousers, they also didnt fit, so i go that money back too! :(

I got two tshirts the other day that where 20p each, so that's 40p added also :A

Other then that, im finding ...... i went shopping to the town centre last week, and. i hate shopping, and thats when i got those trousers £6 they where, nearly fit, but i couldnt relax. ok i was breathing in, then they fitted :rotfl:

Tonight i go to Asda, and i cant see any normal trousers, only jog trousers??. I'm really not a girly girl, and when i want to shop, i go, take the bus, get there, find nothing i like, or find it too expensive.

I'm bored of nothing fitting me. Is no one else 5ft 1. its not that little is it??. :(
    :)
