  • As the official temptation adviser (see first post - lula says it so it must be true) I think that you are all doing marvellously. There have been a few temptations (slapped wrists) but there are also a lot of you (if not all of you) doing so much better than you used to and having made huge changes to the way that you live (slap on the back)

So an extra special well done from me to those that are still within budget :T

And a don't throw the baby out with the bath water or beat yourself up to hard to the rest of you.

I am impressed with the resolve on this thread. Well done one and all, I will try and pop on a bit more than I have been to make sure that you don't lack in advice on temptations... :D

Brilliant mum2one - you are definitely a reformed character :A

thanks for your kind words Poor :D

I nearly nearly crashed out myself earlier today  Had to return a pair of jeans that DD didnt like & just happened to wander into Primarni lookng for bargani t shirts - nothing I wanted BUT but I did grab a pair of reduced to £4 trousers & was next to be served in the queue then suddenly realised that I dont NEED them & that would leave me with £14 for the next 4 months _pale_ so put them back & left the shop :j

TK Maxx was nearly fatal; fab red t shirt with a bee & ' Buzz Off' printed on it but at £12.99 way too scary.

Tried on a fab pair of Liz Claiborne sunnies but although not in the challenge I realised that the 2 pairs I have are perfectly adequate so I saved myself another £24.99 :D

I am definitely going to have to rethink the challenge to include accessories next year :(

If anyone has any thoughts or figures they'd like to suggest that would be great :)

  • I reckon I will just manage to stay below £100  on accessories if I am really careful for the rest of the year but the shoes were all cheapy ones so I would say somewhere between £200 and £250 for clothes and accessories for the whole year.

I guess it depends whether or not people want to be able to buy decent leather shoes and bags.

I think I would find £250 easy but £200 a definite challenge- I just realised what I wrote-:rotfl:the challenge is the point isn't it-:rotfl: I think I've just suggested a limit of £200 IN TOTAL, please someone make a more sensible suggestion to Lula before she listens to me:o

Too late :p Lula's listenting & loves your suggestion :D I'm afraid that when it comes to shoes & bags it has to be leather for me - unless it's holiday flip flops from primarni.

Went to TK Maxx again today & tried on a fab pair of Diesel jeans :heartpuls but as they were 34" leg & I'm only 5'4 ... they went back on the rail *curses self for not having supermodel length legs*. I also tried on a pair of black boots - I do need some for winter, & a black bag - I truly dont have one  but they were a bit small so put them back too.

I do need a real challenge to take on, & although I think not having to include shoes, accessories etc encouraged more people to join up to the challenge, I think it means I havent been as strict as I actually need to be in order to actually save some money. I mean really, there is no way on earth that I can say that a pair of red shoes & a red bag were essential purchases

I reckon I will just about scrape in for the year for the £100 with some ebaying to help!

I think your suggesion about is a good idea £200 sounds a good suggestion to me for everything. That would really make me think. mind you I haven't bought any new shoes or bags at all this year, just a couple of jackets of ebay for later in the year :o ages ago

    Hi everybody,

I haven't managed to keep up with your thread so I'm not too sure if there have been any changes,

    anyway..............

I was posting to let you know that I've bought a summer hat and to deduct the amount from the 100.00. But then I realised that hats count as accessories so I'm still at my 100.00.

I *WILL* try and catch up with the thread at some point, but I just want to say well done to everybody who is still doing the challenge and well done to Lula-Hula for running the thread.

    Toodles.
  • Lula - are you sure red shoes aren't essential?- one of the pairs I bought was red too!

I'm afraid I've been spending again, £8 dress, £8 jeans and £6 cardi from Mr A but I did sell some bits for £9 at a car boot so total spend comes to £13 giving overall spend so far this year of £64. Luckily you don't need to know about the scarf, earrings.....

Must stop spending now as not much left for winter stuff if needed.

    Happy Friday to all,

I have another spend to declare :

A very pretty casual dress form ebay for the huge sum of £2.49 (including postage), should I count the postage or not . I've already updated my sig.

I'm flying away to the sun on monday but dont be thinking you can all go mad in my absence :naughty: I will be checking up when I come back :D.

    Be good :rotfl:

Happy Friday to you too Lula!

I wouldn't count postage if I were you, that would be fine by me!

Have a great holiday, wish I was going away this summer too!

PS Forgot to mention - no more spends from me yet apart from lots of v.reduced socks and tights from Sainsbugs which was ok as needed a new lot this year, was at least half price and socks and tights don't count! At least I am ready for the colder weather with cheap socks! Nice long ones too to keep my leggy peggies warm!

    Hi Lula-Hula,

Hi everybody, I hope you are all well.

Lula-Hula I hope you have a great holiday.

Just reporting in that I have had a spend, shock horror!

I bought a skirt from the charity shop, it should have been $4.00 but was reduced to $2.00, so converting that to sterling equates to approx 1.00 pound. So my total left is 99.00 pounds.:T

Am on the look out for a new (to me) winter coat, fingers crossed I find one otherwise it will be one I've been wearing for the last 4 years (this winter will be it's 5th).

    Toodles.
