I haven't bought anything for yonks and good to know we are over half way there!

OH said I needed to treat myself to something new as I hadn't bought anything apart from cheap clothes ages ago (eg second hand:D)

I don't mind about this and I am trying to hang in until my birthday and buy some clothes I like then ready for autumn/winter and job nearly done for the year!

Otherwise need to get off my backside and list some clothes on ebay to get some money neutral in and be able to spend this instead on some clothes if I like them.

The last blouse I bought off ebay looks awful on me and is going back on there :o

5 months to go, here we go with £22 left! Need to be vey careful and clever about this little amount left!

Hello there - is it too late to join for the rest of the year? I've been watching this as a 'lurker' but would like to take the plunge, having found my clothing spending a little out of control the last few months. I work out that I have £41.67  to spend on clothes for the rest of the year! Will add to my signature.

    Hi museum worker!

I'm sure Lula won't mind you joining, we'll clear a space for you on the train!

This challenge has really made me reign in my spending on clothes. Before I would have justified buying things because they were in the sale and reduced. Now I think if I really need it, will I wear it and do I like it? Eg don't just buy it because it is in the sale.

I've only got £22 left for the year and it's going to be tight! Can't wait until my birthday and guess what I'm asking for!

Hi fedupandskint - congratulations on only spending £78 this year on clothes, that is very impressive!

I'm sorry to say I have already spent £1.50 on clothes - I bought a pair of shorts from a charity shop in the vain hope that the 'barbeque summer' is back on for my holidays at the end of the month! I also bought a snakeskin leather belt for 50p, but I understand that doesn't come off the fund?

Will try harder over the coming weeks - otherwise I may be the shortest lived member of this challenge group!

Hello & welcome to museum worker :D,

the more the merrier here :rotfl:

Funny that you should join up today as I have a couple of confessions to make :

    1) I have put back on every single pound that worked so hard to lose  & with my holiday now only just over 2 weeks away I am feeling a bit :o, very more  & completely  & :wall:in equal measure which brings me to confession number ...

    2) I gave in & boought myself some jeans, they were pretty cheap £ 14.99from TKMaxx & of course I had to get a new top to go with them
so that was another £12.99 :o.

Last week I bought some new shoes & a new bag :o & I have noticed that I seem to be compensating for my clothes diet by stuffing myself with both food & accessories ( 4 new pairs of shoes so far this year )

I am utter rubbish at the whole DFW business at the moment & I need to have a stern word with myself or things will get worse rather than better .

At this rate I am going to have put myself on a £100 clothes, shoes & accessories challenge next year  ... bet I'll be doing that one alone

right, I am off to add our new member & my new total to the front page.

Hi Lula, and thanks for the warm welcome. I am also trying to lose weight at the moment, but not lost even a pound for about five weeks so not doing too well!

I don't think I can join you for the £100 on clothes and accessories - I'm hoping to improve my shoe collection at the very least by the end of this :D.

I spent £3.50 on a dress from a charity shop in Eastbourne yesterday. It is grey, and from Primark (which goes against my normal rule to never buy primark clothing, especially second hand!). However, it is gorgeous, and I wore it out for dinner with another new acquisition - a set of twisted sea bead vintage necklace (99p). Luckily the beads don't count! I've amended my signature.

Given I've spent £5 on clothes in my first week of the challenge, I don't think I'm in a place to give you a talking to!

Hope you enjoy your holiday, can't WAIT for mine!

  • Hi Lula, I think I have also compensated by spending more on accessories and shoes, I bought a pair of summer shoes 3 months ago which I have not yet worn - what a waste of money! I think I have spent at least £70 on these things so will probably join you next year in an even madder challenge!

Bless you Notjusta mum :A - you are my new shopping best friend :D

I dont want to go back & look but I'm pretty sure that I did say something about not needing any shoes this year :o I confess that my shoe spending has definitely gone over the £50 mark - which is great for 4 pairs considering I would easily have spent that on just one pair previously ... I still need a fab new pair of boots for winter though ... :shhh: As for my new bag , well I simply cannot divulge how much that was :silenced:

museumworker - well done on your brilliantly cheap purchase :A even at £5 I think you've got the right idea ;)

gratefulforhelp - What can I say :naughty::D however, if the tops are for work then does it still count ... I thought those who needed a work wardrobe were challenging the £100 for home clothes  up to you sweetie, I hate to lose anyone :(
