....we're off on holiday for three weeks soon (19 days but I'm not really counting
), but I've got a major gap in my wardrobe - holiday clothes like dresses/ something smart for the evening etc.
I think this calls for my 'emergency' money as there is no wedding/ posh party on the horizon!
I went to Debenhams and bought 6 dresses...
it was on the 10% off day and 3 were in the sale already...
Mr Luxor paid because he could not face waiting for me to choose the 'final three'
DD is dropping heavy hints as she fancies 2 of them
and I'm still waiting for M&S saleI can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0 -
Hello all,
I feel really bad but I've failed this challenge, I've now spent £170 on clothes so far this year and I know there will be more. My work wear has really pushed up the amount I've been spending. The problem I'm having is that I can wear fairly casual clothes to work, so I can't easily seperate purchases into 'work' and 'non-work' clothes.
Despite the fact I've overspent I'm really pleased with the gok inspired capsule wardrobe I've been creating. I'm know I've not spent anywhere near as much as I did this time last last year (pre-LBM).
Keep up the good work everyone.

Hi All
Dont often get to post on here, but I am keeping up my challenge, much to my surprise!
It was my birthday a couple of weeks back, so bought a few things with my birthday money.
Black Wedge Sandals from Clarks for 10.00
Black linen trousers from M&S for 7.50
and Green coloured vest from M&S 13
..all paid for by others.
Did also buy two M&S tops couldn't decide on which colour I liked best so I bought them both - which I did pay for out of my own money.
Note to self - this cant continue - too much like the old days which we cannot return to.
So thats another £30 off my total please!0 -
Hi Lula and all,
Sorry I haven't posted for ages, very busy with all the exams etc going on in the family etc, etc.... but I have been reading the thread regularly, and most seem to be doing really well.
I have been spending but not too much... £35 to come off my total but that was a pair of trousers, 6 t-shirts and a dress from Mr T and Mr A so I m pleased with my purchases.
Some of these are for work as I am including work stuff otherwise I might be tempted to cheat, intending things to be for work but then actually wearing them elsewhere!!
Also I seem to be compensating for not spending on clothes by buying accessories but at least these are usually just the cheap things from Primarni which jazz up my cheap clothes, so overall I'm sure I am still saving.GC/Aug2009 296 spent/300. GC/Sept2009 62/300. £100 Clothes Challenge 100/780 -
Forgot to say that I dyed an old raincoat from a girly pink to a fab purple - much more 'trendy 40something' rather than 'mutton dressed as lamb pink', am really pleased with it and glad I don't need to include the cost in my total.GC/Aug2009 296 spent/300. Morning all,
Happy New Clothes to all
Luxor - what a clever way of getting your OH to buy clothes :T
Millie - Never mind on 'failing', you 've done well to get this far & as I've alwasy said - this is easier for me in that I work from home so dont need to have a work wardrobe, it's great that you've tried & thanks for keeping us all company :A
LittleMissBoden - Well done on your restraint, will update your total ...
Notjustamum - Sounds like you've picked up some fab bargains & brilliant plan for revamping the raincoat ... I still dont have one of those, yet.
My DD1 has just had her LBM  & I mentioned that I was doing this challenge with all you guys. She looked at me with disbelief, and is stunned that I've only spent £54 this year, that gives an idea of how much I used to spend
Keep it up everyone, you're all doing brilliantly :A

Errrk - £18 yesterday on a grey 'tunic' t shirt - it's lovely and organic cotton and like a very long t shirt/ short dress iykwim? BUT I did think about it hard and have a gazillions ways to layer it/ wear it so it fits in the capsule.
Ohhh this is going to be tough now....:beer:0 -
£18 on a skirt that I've been wearing for work, so no change, BUT £1.70 off the total as bought a sale T-shirt.
I think M&S sale is tomorrow but I have £60 (£50 in vouchers and a £10 off wys £50 coupon) so I can go wild & buy some staples for next term. I need a white blouse, a longish black cardi and possibly another pair of dark smart trousers.... oh, and underwear:p.I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.0
