Jen_31 thanks for the pingu :T

    urg - Happy Vouchers :j

loobylou - Good plan on the wedding outfits, definitely try out the corsages that someone clever suggested - who, I cant remember sorry :o suggested

gratefulforhelp - Happy New Clothes :) - I'm also feeling a whole lotta love for ebay at the moment

Jane-Liz - Happy New Clothes to you too :)

    Confession time for Moi

Had to pop to town to pick up contact lenses & decided to be very virtuous & return the grey top that I needed to slim into - life's too short & I want new clothes NOW :p so into Primarni I trot full of good intentions ... half an hour later out I dance with a bag of 5 new tops & 2 pairs trousers & £20 lighter :o. It would have been £28 but as I returned the other top it was mere £20 :A:rotfl: Obviously I needed new lingerie to go with my new tops so off I zoomed to M & S with my gift card & due to the 25% discount on bras I got 2 for £11 & still have £5 left on my card :D

I did say that I needed new tops & I think I've now bought 7 this year so that will have to do. I really want a fabby pair of cropped jeans when I've lost the weight so will probably save the pennies for that - on day 2 of the "no-penguins-but-plenty-of-special-K " regime

Off to update the front page now ...

    Lula
    xx

    Edit :

Oh dear, in my haste to confess to new purcahses I completely forgot to confess to my ebay purchases - 2 skirts for a whopping £5 ;)
  • Well done, Lula-Hula! Its hard to come out of Primarni empty-handed!

Lula I totally know how the feeling re: Primarni! I went there today with good intentions... to return a £4 top. Instead I bought a scarf & soem hair clips (totalling £4... whoopsie).

Actually since I last checked into this thread, I have spent a bit more but actually have no idea how much. Will be back later to confess!

edit to add: just been through my spending diary, and I now only have £49.26 remaining... but tbh, I am surprised it's not less! I am going to return two tops tomorrow (out of guilt) though so my total will jump back up
  • Very excited as just reread the first post, re 50 quid contingency fund, hurrah!

    Hi everyone,

Spent some time lurking on this thread. I am not sure how much I have spent on clothes this year, but all my clothes ( apart from underwear) comes from charity shops. And as underwear and shoes dont count I must be will in budget.

A question. if you sell some clothes on ebay - can that money not be added back into the budget? Just a thought.

Newbie here: it's my understanding that yes, you can add your ebay sales onto your £100 budget.

Although I haven't been an official member of this challenge I've been a de facto member for the last 4 years: I've not bought a single stitch of new clothing since 2005 excepting undies and socks: every single item I've bought has been from ebay. My particular rules are to rarely buy anything that's come from a chain-store excepting work-shirts or blouses which I pay a maximum of £5 for excluding P&P. M&S is not included because of the quality. I generally select items which would be out of my price-range when new and in classic styles of possible: like the brand new black Dior trousers I snagged for a fiver. I only ever buy in certain colours so things will go with the other things I already own and still fit into. I also start looking for things like winter coats in June. I got a beautiful wool & cashmere coat this way for a tenner.

I've turned into the most annoying miser but the thrill of getting something I really need for next to nothing is difficult to describe. Now, if I only had a digital camera I'd be flogging off all those lovely items I own which don't fit me any more and I'd be quids in.

Last summer I bought thermal undies and fingerless gloves so that this winter I turned the central-heating off at 7pm on work-day evenings because I was rigid with fear about the bills. They came in at less than the winter before and I just cannot describe what a relief that was. If I though that I could get away with bathing less often I wouldn't have the hot water on as much either.

I now only ever wash my clothes in cold water so I'm saving on the leccy that way too with absolutely no discernible loss in cleanliness.

Sorry for the ramble but I'm actually quite proud of myself for weaning myself off my dreadful clothesaholic previous lifestyle. I actually think I'm better dressed now than I ever was before
