  • OMG! I am so exhausted you would not believe it. I decided to clean my son's room today. THe stress . I wanted to kill him.He then went in a huff with me because I had the audacity to make him help:rotfl:. How dare I ! Never mind DD decided to finish her room and between the 2 we have enough stuff for 2 boot sales lol. THat's all 3 bedrooms and bathroom absolutely gutted now. I need to get some paint for DS's room to tidy it up and a large rug for the carpet as it is all stained ( he is a real minger). A cheap pair of curtains and he will be done for another few years. I must say it looks great now. JUst need to get into the kitchen, lounge and under stairs . I have paint lying since the summer to do my stairway and halls but haven't had the time to get it done yet. I spent no money today though as I couldn't escape from the horrors of a boy's bedroom :rotfl:. By the way ds reckons he is getting the money from the car boot to spend but he has no chance as I will be using it to buy the required items for his room :D no doubt will have to deal with another huff then . I hope you are all good. Nice to hear from you Penguin. You are doing amazingly well

  • I've just realised that I told a big fat lie there. I spent £12 on a chippy dinner as I didnt't want to stop *blush* I do try and give us one take away per month as a treat though so I don't feel too bad. MUst update my grocery challenge as it is coming off of that.

  • Well done for being brave - I know the nightmare of kids rooms   and more of.

£12 not too bad considering the hard work done. You could always take that off the car boot profit.

  • Nah it's coming off of the grocery budget. Car boot will be months away nearer spring. THere is a huge boot sale about 15 miles from here so my mate and I are going to do it together and see what we can get.

hey MIT, Tif here - long time no post from me. I have had to search the forum high and low for your latest posts so will have to have a catch up session on how you've been.

from the last few pages it looks like you've had a tough time recently, its been an up and down 2008-2009 for me (hence the lack of posts) but i'm trying to focus on the present and the future rather than the past.

i guess i'm taking every day as it comes. my plan for the next few days is to catch up on your diary though. i'll hopefully catch up soon enough!

ta ta for now while i do some reading! take care!
  • well hello there tif. How you doing? Lovely to hear from you. You can catch me up with what you have been up to when you get time. Hope you re well.

Well I spent a few quid today. £30 on petrol although the snow is getting pretty bad here again and I might not get out :D. Back to work today and it was absolutely manic. I hate first day back:rolleyes:. THere wasn't even time to have a wee catch up chat with anyone. I also had to pay £2 towards a birthday present. I was really naughty and spent £3.40 on lunch and 86p on chocolate :o. My grocery budget will be done by 15th at this rate :rotfl:. I need to sort myself out. Getting back in the swing of things. Who am I kidding lol I have never stuck to my shopping budget yet. Had to spend £5 on a cable for DS so that the surround sound I bought him for Christmas works with his x-box. Never mind except for the food everything else was needed. Hope everyone else is doing better than me :D

  • Well not been angelic in the spending department but certainly a lot better than I was. I haven't been too organised with the lunches etc so that's been eating into my budget a bit. Made soup tonight so will take that in tomorrow for lunch. No other spends. I a quite chuffed though because I haven't touched my wages yet except for petrol. If I can continue to do that then I should be able to overpay a wee bit this month. going out at the weekend but my friend has said she will treat me to my dinner and if I take the car then I can stay out of the kitty for drink. I often don't bother drinking so it will be perfectly acceptable to do that. No-one will bat an eye. It is ssssooooooooo cold here. It is taking me until lunchtime to thaw out from scraping my car in the mornings.I am keeping my heating on 24/7 as it is so bad that the pipes will freeze if I don't. Warned my mum to do the same. Am worried about our wee rabbit as well so we put loads of extra hay out for her tonight. SHe has a massive fur coat though so will hopefully be okay. She better not die lol as I will never be able to dig the garden to bury her . Hope everyone is well and not too brrrr

  • I have joined the olympic 2012 challenge and have managed to pay off over 1% of my debt. Sounds much better than an amount. I am enjoying doing it this way.
I unfortunately had to buy a heater today though for upstairs. I have no heating in the upper part of my house and it is freezing. Spent £54 on a heater and no doubt will spend about £100 on electricity lol but am too cold to care any more tbh. I am really worried about burst pipes etc as well. Not been shopping yet but supplies are getting low so will need to go tomorrow and stock up. I have £60 in my purse and want to come in well under that. I'll menu plan and write a list which will keep it down I hope. Will try and leave the kids at home as well. Not much more to tell today tbh murderous day at work but hey that's what I thrive on . Hope everyone is good xx

  • hi folks. Spent £42.19 yesterday in Morrisons so I was pleased with that. I bought hteir own make diet coke though and it is absolutely vile. It is literally making me feel sick. Thought I was going to barf earlier but thankfully okay.
I have cleared the ironing and done 2 loads of washing. Just about to pop on another one now. I am going to clear out the cupboard under my stairs so I can put all the stuff for the car boot sale in it and clear my lounge. I hate this job but whole house is messed up with car boot treasures lol that it is now bugging me and I have such a busy week ahead of me that I need to be ultra organised so i will cope. Wish me luck lol cos I may go missing forever under the stairs

Went out last night with friends for dineer but my lovely mate gave me £20 towards it and I took the car so no money for booze. Spent £5 in all and a couple quid in petrol as I ran them home after. Nice night for hardly any cost.No other spends x

I have to admit I steer clear of own brand diet coke/coke......I don't drink coke that often, but when I do, I certainly want to enjoy it so won't risk the cheaper stuff.

I'm certainly not a "brand snob" but there are some things that are just not worth substituting!!
