Can I make a suggestion that you perhaps look at matched betting - if you read moo2moo's diary, she has managed to turn matched betting in the past 2 months into £500.00. I know it is quite complex but if you can get your head around it, this could be the difference for you in having that extra little bit to spend each month or bring that DFD a bit closer.

I keep meaning to get the OH to do it because I don't have the patience :o but I am sure moo2moo might be able to point you in the right direction of where to begin.

Matched betting does seem like a good moneymaking plan.

  • am fine ty KP. I am a woman lol we're always fine. Skysky69 that sounds like a good idea. I will have a wee look at that and see. I had a nosey before but the thought of losing money scared the bejesus out of me. Will look at it seriously though and have a wee go.
Going to go for my promotion hell for leather too as that would loosen the purse strings as well. Made the kids pay for the pet's food etc tonight which I normally wouldn't. Felt a bit bad but they had plenty of money to cover it and I would have been left short if I had paid it.
My 14yr old DD has been asked out by a 17 yr old guy  . After I spluttered my tea I told her no way jose, he is far too old for her. Don't think she is overly bothered anyway so phew! Heading to bed nice and early tonight as have had a few late ones recently and am tired. Hope everyone is well x

I think the kids have to learn that if they are going to have pets, there is a cost implication. My DD needed a new car seat recently - she had £140.00 in cash for her birthday on top of all the toys that she had, so I took the £30.00 for her car seat out of her birthday money (she is only 4, what she needs £140.00 for), and I have put the rest away in her savings account in case something comes up that she really needs.

My OH would flip when our DD gets to 14 if she gets asked out by a 17 year old, I think she will have to be locked under the stairs by that stage.....

  • Quite right re the car seat. My friend used to always buy things herself for her first child so he could save up his cash. He is now peeing it against a wall at the age of 17 lol. SHe has a younger one and she uses her savings to buy her things as I reckon it's a lesson learntWhen I give a child money then I expect the parents to use it for treats and items that are needed.
DD is not going to go out with that lad ( ) or will she behind my back  . I would have lol when I was young. We will soon see what happens.

Was out last night at a retirement do. Had a nice evening. Only spent £12 and that included a meal so not too shabby.
I havemy graduation ceremony this week and have booked into a hotel. Was wondering how in god's name I was going to pay for the meal etc as things a re really tight now, BUT, went into my mum's last night and she gave me a card with £50 in it:j , What a sweetheart. Said it was to pay for my hotel. Spent it today in Aldi's lol but loosens up the bank account a bit so I will have some cash on Thursday for that day. Am well happy.

Mother's day tomorrow and my mum is taking us all out for lunch. Feel bad as I would love to take her out but no can do at the minute. Just going to the local carvery so not too expensive. Nice weekend all round and a lovely week to look forward to. ( except MOT  )

Hope you are all well xx

  • Happy mother's day all :D . I hope everyone has had a nice day. I have. Kids got me lovely jewellery and chocs as pressies and my mum , myself and the kids all went out for lunch. Went to local outlets to let my mum spend some money and then a nice lazy day( eating chocs  )
I need to get rid of my pride though ,as I insisted on paying for lunch ( went on the card :o ) Need to realise I can no longer afford these gestures. Will give myself a stern talking to later. . I have loads to do this week and just can't get motivated this weekend to get started. Will end up running about like an eejit at the last minute as usual. Dunno what it is about me but I always work better under pressure. Hmm maybe I just think I work better and if perhaps i put effort in earlier I would get better results in my life. Will think about that one.:rotfl: Going to go and do some of the script for the presentation I have to deliver of Thursday. Hope everyone is well xx

  • Good evening. Been a funny day today. Had 2 women on my team really upset odya. One because she feels she is lagging behind others ( wrongly) and the other as her debts are so crippling she might be losing her home. Apparently there has been suicide attempts etc due to debt issues and I am finding it quite hard to deal with. I was really worried about letting her go home tonight tbh. But hey I am only her boss she has a huge family who will help her and a huge network of counsellors etc that will hopefully pull together and get her through this. She has also been off sick a lot and will no longer be supported if she goes over her sick allowance again  . It's a nightmare for her as she is such a lovely, lovely person. I forgot about the joys of having a larger team lol. Never mind we will be fine and I have bags of experience in managing so will cope. In fact come Thursday I will have my chartered manager diploma - clever or wot?? :D .

I am right proud of myself tbh as it has been a hard slog. The course is geared at managers at 1 and 2 levels higher than me so for me to get taking part was great. Will just need to ensure that I get moved up to that grade ASAP. Wages would help too lol.

My car passed its MOT yesterday so :j :j . Will only have to pay the £59 whereas I had convinced myself it was going to cost hundreds. Thats me for another year unless any repairs need done in the meantime.
I get paid next week but it is unlikely that I will manage to overpay by much. I need to pay off the cc that I used for tickets etc before any interest goes on it. I also need to clear ARGOS by May as it will accrue interest after that. No pressure lol. Not too many expenses in April other than DD's birthday and Easter so might manage to do this. We'll see.

Going to go back onto healthy eating after this weekend as well. I have still lost just over the 2 stone that I had lost prior to Christmas but want another 2 off before my holidays in June. Hope everyone is good x

  • Hi. Not been on for a few weeks as been lazy. But just had abig shock. Have tried to do a balnace transfer with 3 different companies and have been turned down by all 3. This means that I am now going on to silly interest rates which tbh scares the cr*p out of me. I paid off my Argos card as I know they just whap on the whole amount of interest at the one time if you dont clear it and that's a definate no-no as it would be about £60 in one go. This means that the SONY one is outstanding and that is 30% APR . Unbelievable. Bloody robbery tbh. Have paid £30 to that today that I had left over from last week.
I am truly horrified by all this( again) as my snowball says it will now take me 74 months to clear this debt up. Well hopefully I am having a real lightbulb moment now as I need to get rid of this as I am having bother sleeping thinking about it.
My ex has cut the maintenance by £45 per week and is getting off with it as he is self employed which complicates things. I don't know how he can live with himself. Kids told me he has newly carpeted his house and bought new furniture. He is now away on holiday for 2 weeks but can't afford to pay maintenance. Anyway , Rant over. I just need to stop being lazy. I need to stop buying junk when I amshopping. I need to stop dishing out money to my kids .............and the list goes on. So from now on I am going to bore the *ss off of you all and be here detailing my life and my spends lol. Prepare for some long posts.

I suppose though when I started this 2 years ago I owed £16 to CC's so at least that has gone down a wee bit.
I have put £250 as my monthly payment to cards but hopefully will manage a bit more. See you soon . Away to put stuff onto e-bay lol

  • Okay that's 9 items so far on e-bay. Fingers crossed they sell well. Whatever I get for them will go straight to my SONY card as it is 30% interest:eek:. Need to get rid of that as soon as possible.
It's DD's birthday this month. She wants a jacket. Will get that next week for her. Will be about £50 for that. I have bought her some undies and pj's already so that is all she will be getting. She wants a sleep over so that should be okay. They want to go to the pictures first but they all pay their own way so no cost for me there. I just need o have cheap pizzas and extra toppings for their return. Will buy the smart price ones form ASDA and they can put the toppings on themselves. Unless there are good offers on at the time.
Going to the doctor who exhibition on Thursday.DS is mega excited re that. Will take headach tabs before I go lol. Am feeling all motivated now so will keep you updated. x

  • :j happy MIT. Just called council tax office there as I had noticed that there was an option to pay over 12 months rather than 10 and I wanted to arrange that ( never get the good of the free months anyway) and was told I had overpaid and was covered for this month. :D. Going to pay the £91 offof SONY immediately before I'm tempted to do anything else with it. Feels good lol
