im a recruiter im there everyday lol!!
well it depends on how many vacancies there are and how far down the list you are as they may only want 10 but are checking 20! which is ok if you are numbers 1-10 but after that your relying on people failing the checks!

generally though at the minute even if you aren't part of the first intake there's more than likely gonna be more positions coming up!

don't let that stop you applying for other positions on the website though as your only on the waiting list for one position - it doesn't mean you will be considered for other positions like many people think!

If you don't spot the mistakes in the above, then you might want to revise before taking your literacy test! ;-)

Well done Tigerlily! You don't have to get 100% to work at the DWP. ;-)

I just passed my assessments today. Interview next Wednesday. Fingers crossed!

It really really irritates me when people don't know the difference between "your" and "you're". Also "there" , "their" and "they're". It horrifies me that there are people working at the job centre who do not know basic English. Worrying.

Here is an example for those who don't know. "I think you're sexy but I hope your boyfriend doesn't find out!"

It is all dependant on which part of DWP you've applied to, I work in Jobcentreplus and if you've applied for a job in a Jobcentre/Contact Centre then any waiting list means they are waiting for posts, if they have available space then they will want you to start ASAP after checks etc, if its working in the Benefit Delivery Centre as processor then the waiting list is likely to be becasue they need to find space for your training, they cannot employee you before the benefit training as you won't be able to do any work, the training is quite lengthy so it can take time to organise everything that needs to be organised, they are also desperately trying to find physical space for new recruits which could be another hold up (DWP have spent some years closing offices and giving up buildings for cost cutting purposes)
