    Hi sigrid,

I understand you work for them and the checks may take some time but... I applied with about 3000 others in the northwest. This kind of mass recruitment is a direct result of immediate positions available. They are rushing the process through to get people in the jobcentres asap and as a result we should find out whether we failed/offered/waiting within 2-3 weeks. This information is specific for the Greater Manchester/North West area.

You were already on the list mate. They've called you up as you had already gone through the application form sift, testing, interview.

There aren't enough people on their waiting list hence this massive recruitment drive. The people who applied end of january will not be waiting as long as you mate.
  • Hi Sigrid,

I had an interview 3 weeks ago. The other day i received a letter asking me to complete a CRB form. My referees were also sent letters, and today my current employer received a letter asking to confirm employment, much to my dismay. Don't really understand this. I mean i haven't even received a letter to say i'm on a waiting list, never mind an actual job offer and they are contacting my employer, who now obviously realises i'm looking to leave. So if i don't get the job i am then left in an awkward position with my employer.

With them asking for ll this info from referees and such does that mean im pretty close to getting an offer if all is well??? As i didnt even get a letter to say im on a waiting list. Just a CRB form to fill out.

Yeah you've got an offer by the sounds of it. Probably should've told your boss though

sod your boss. when your forms are done (make sure you send the CRB to DWP not to your house) you will get a start date as long as all your checks are clear

Yeh slightly messed that one up. Sent it to my house without realising so now i'll have to send them on to dwp. Put in a note to say i give consent for them to be sent to dwp but don't think that will help lol.

merit list. people who score highest in interview get their first choice of job/location

Thanks, although got a letter today saying didn't get past the sift. Had a few choice words as you can imagine, been an EO for about 6 years, higher marks in PDS etc. The numbers in boxes obviously wasn't my cup of tea.
Funny how JC+ weren't picky about taking colleagues who were made surplus in 2005 and 600 odd CSA staff from SPC's round the country this month, but I want to move and have had an EF5Y (vol transfer request) in for 4 months and not a peep.

Still another job in IT for Leeds I am likely to go for.

    Escape is the only option!
    Nothing to see here

    Hi Sigrid,

I think you're confusing people who are waiting for offers and for people who are waiting to start work. I don't think anyone is under the impression they will start before all the tedious crb and reference checking is done.

All the way through this thread people seem to be having a go at sigrid. He has had a full days work and is still coming home to help everyone here that has got a question. I think we need to be saying THANKYOU! not questioning every answer he has for us!
