    Just a quick update...

Like desperado, I too got the call yesterday offering me a start date. I couldn’t believe it. It’s my first time ever applying for DWP and from what I can gather, it doesn’t usually go as smoothly and quickly as it has this time.

scottygees... I haven’t yet been told what role I will be taking either, but I have been given a definite start date.

Thank-you for all the help on this thread, and especially to desperado who has given me tons of advice through the whole process!

Good luck everyone still waiting, don’t give up!

"However, as you met the minimum standard,
should any further vacancies arise for this exercise within
six months from the date of this notification you may be
invited to an interview, although we cannot guarentee this"

Thanks for clearing that up for me I just assumed that this meant I could be invited to interview if any other vacancies come up..

I think the key words are "for this excercise" i.e. this particular job.. not the department as a whole.. I may be wrong! but safer to watch the websites and apply anyway.. or at least email employee services and ask if you have automatically been resubmitted.:o

I wanted to know my score as I found mine out for a previous vacancy but it says at bottom that they are unable to give feedback on this exercise or words to that effect.:(

Be brazen and blatant.. ignore what it says and ask politely anyways.. they may not give you a full test report, but they may give you an indication at least. Admittedly they may decline, but it's worth asking just in case.. the person you spoeak to or email may give you info off the record..

What I want to know is when is this recruitment freeze going to be lifted?

    Well done Desperado2

It's great to hear there still some good news to be handed out from the DWP.

Congratulations, I hope the role has been worth the wait and is everything you expect and more.

BTW, thanks for your posts on here, they have been extremely helpful to myself and I'm quite sure quite a few others on this thread too.

Hi Sportfan, sorry to hear you have not made it through to the next stage of the recruitment process for IRC65238, have you been placed on a waiting list by any chance?

Out of curiosity where did you hear that there were 3000 applicants? I was told by DWP HR that 1800 people had applied and there was 25 permanent roles available.

Do you know what the minimum pass mark was compared to the raised pass mark for the online OCAT test, my email mentioned nothing other than I had successfully passed the test, it went on to say interviews were originally scheduled for 03/03/10 and were now to be rescheduled due to the online test results being delayed and they would e-mail me again with the details.

Were you aware of the pass mark before you took the online test, or did the DWP advise that you'd passed the online test already and have only this week changed the pass marks to accomodate the amount of applicants who successfully reached the minimum pass mark, I am a little confused from your post.

Thanks for your good wishes, I really need a full time job, I have now been unemployed since July 2009, so fingers, legs and everything else crossed too lol.

Well, I know there's a lot of talk about cuts and stuff, but dont give up hope folks, I just got "the call" and start my basic training in a few weeks time - though the process has been apalling in some cases and more than lacking in transparency for this IRC it has been good and seemingly well managed and with minimal delays.

I also got a few weeks notice of start, and a promise of an offer letter etc "before" commencing work which seems a bit of a rarity!

Those of you still "hanging on" and others just starting, persevere and hopefully you will get there in the end.

Congratulations on getting "the call." I am really pleased for you.

So things seem to be moving along now, then, in regard to the freeze being lifted?

    Thanks all!

    Truegho...
I may be totally wrong here( so correct me if I am!), but I think the recruitment freeze only/mainly applies to job centre roles within DWP rather than the few jobs available in the call centres and other areas such as roles within DLA centres.

So I would say that despite a few people being handed out start dates, as a whole, the recruitment freeze hasn’t been lifted unfortunately. I think somebody else in this thread said that they received an email from DWP, saying something like- "they will still recruit for specific areas where there are severe staffing shortages, but, as a whole, recruitment is currently frozen. "

    Hope that helps! ;)
