DWP employment waiting list

"Upset"? I should imagine they will all have to have group counselling, several team meetings, and a group hug..
Of course this will all occur around 6 to 8 months after your last day when they finally process the paperwork and realise you are no longer there...
In the menatime, no, you dont have to repay any expenses or training costs.. and to be honest, they wasted so much money on recruitment, a couple of quid for meals and a hotel for a few nights wont break the bank.
If you were employed before taking this job, you should have enough stamp paid to allow you to go on the unconditional benefit, if not, you will still get it, it is just called something else!.. and even if you didnt get Jobseekers, you probably qualify for an equivalent payment of income support..0 -
Darn it desperado...I was kind of hoping they would shed a tear or something!!!
Seriously though, I do appreciate your reply as it clarifies a few things.
I am the one though that feels terrible about leaving due to the costs that I incurred through the hotel and travel expenses for the training.
You know, there is something that I remembered - the employment on trial. That is, if I was claiming before dwp (which I was) and worked at the job for over four weeks, I can claim Unemployment benefit on the employment on trial scheme. Am I recalling that correctly?0 -
Just to correct flagrantly wrong advice
No you wont get JSA ask one of your colleagues to explain the 26 week rule to you.
You certainly won't get IS unless you qualify for it. I.e. are a lone parent or estranged from your family and a young person, on Jury Service, A carer, or qualify in some other specific way.
From my own personal experience once you're 'in' DWP is an excellent place to work - but I guess it's all subjective.
Good luck to all those waiting I hope something works out for you. Also remember to check dwp.gov.uk frequently as they are still advertising the odd vacancy. Currently decision makers in the pension service in Birmingham http://www.dwp.gov.uk/about-dwp/working-for-dwp/current-vacancies/irc65238.shtml - and advisers and managers in Humber. http://www.dwp.gov.uk/about-dwp/working-for-dwp/current-vacancies/
G'luck

Just to follow on from Apolonation's point.
If you have voluntarily left a job in the last 26 weeks, any claim for JSA may be disallowed for up to 26 weeks. At your Work Focussed Interview you'll be give a form to complete which will then go to your BDO for a decision.
If you work for Jobcentre Plus you will not be replaced by anyone from the waiting lists, as there is freeze on all recruitment.
For the sake of both your CV and your finances (if not the interests of your colleagues) my advice would be to stick it out until the end of your temporary contract. Either that or apply for other jobs rather than simply leave.
I'm not unsympathetic 2bwithdwp, I've been unhappy in jobs in the past. But sticking at something you don't like for a short while is surely better than throwing in the towel?

Either way - chill out, the pair of you.
Lol! I'm done. I've had my say and hope Apolonation will take a tiny bit of that on board, although I'm sure they would never admit it to us on here. I will leave you guys to it. Good luck with the job hunt guys, I really hope things come good for you0 -
Am a long time lurker and used to read these boards whilst waiting to start work with the JCP...I guess I am one of the lucky ones, I started work about 6 or 7 weeks after getting the success letter...
2bwithdwp- I hope you don't mind me asking, but why are you unhappy with your job? Do you not like your role? Having signed on at the JCP I work at I was a bit apprehensive as to what it would be like working there but I have to say that so far it's been a brilliant experience.... I guess you're not having the same kind of luck???
And to the rest of you, I really don't know what to say and I don't want to come off as a tit.... but yeah, the situation that you are all in is crap and there is nothing that can be said to make you feel better. Perhaps the DWP will learn from their mistakes next time and change the recruitment process. I've always thought it should be brought back to a more local level as opposed to having national recruitment drives, where each JCP and BDC, or even each area, recruit for themselves. Maybe it's not possible but it sure seems like a better idea to me...0 -
Applied for job July 2009,....Received my success letter dated 1st September 2009. November 2009 dwp advertised all the same positions again under ref 64225. I phoned and asked why if they hadnt given me a job.....they were recruiting again. The reply was that the new roles were for early in the new year. Received standard email today saying that they do not have a job for me at present,.....I am on a list until March, then dropped.
In my opinion the DWP is run by cowboys......the money they must have given to to manpower to run 2 recruitment drives is a great demonstration of why our country has gone to the dogs. As previously stated on this site if an agency that is suppose to help people back into work makes such a pigs ear of things and treats people with such disdain what chance do those of us that find ourselves unemployed stand. The most annoying thing is i was offered a job on the 1st September.....the day I got my letter saying i had been successful...and turned that down as wanted to be fair knowing i "would be working at the job centre".
Its all a crock.. Well done all of you that have started work, and I hope you treat the people coming into see you better than your new employer seems to.0 -
Hi Spangles, I had the same e-mail today, for the same IRC61505, no real surprise to get it after following this site. Good luck with your job hunting, I have had a couple of interviews in the last week so am keeping everything crossed.

Hi Margie,
Good luck with your interviews,...Let us know how you get on. I have applied for other jobs...no luck yet0 -
Apolonation wrote: »Sorry but its obvious from your attitudes why your unemployed.
Obvious. Change your attitude or stay unemployed imo.
Are you related to Anihilator perchance? as the tone of your replies mirror those of that paragon of (in)sensitivity in their bluntness. Of course people are looking for something else, it is just nice to have somewhere to vent a little spleen sometimes. It will be DWP's loss and other employers gain in the end.0
