I so agree Jamie - I have never ever had an experience like this b4. It has definitely put me off applying to DWP ever again - if they are this disorganised, imagine what they would be like to work for.....maybe we have just had a lucky escape......here's to all of us having a better time next time, but somewhere else. _pale_
That's the way I am looking at it, although perhaps that's the only way! They must loose out on so many willing and talented people like ourselves that end up going into the private sector.
At least it's made the reciepient of my vote in the general election clearer!0 -
I got the bad news email today for irc64065, manchester. Goes along the lines of:
"
Re your application with Jobcentre Plus for - IRC64065
We are currently updating our records and wanted to remind you that you are still on our waiting list for the above vacancy.
Unfortunately Jobcentre Plus is not in a position to offer you a job at this time. I appreciate that this may come as a disappointment to you however the waiting list does not expire until 30/06/2010 and we will be in touch during this time if an opportunity arises. If you have not heard from us by this date then unfortunately we will not be able to offer you a post.
If of course your circumstances have changed so that you no longer wish to be considered for this post I would be grateful if you could notify me by email at
JCP.LETTERSW-L0-6MTHS31.6.10@DWP.GSI.GOV.UK
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your interest in working for Jobcentre Plus.
Please note you will receive a similar letter(s) if you have applied for other Jobcentre Plus vacancies
Yours sincerely.."
I'm very annoyed, but, I know it will achieve nothing being down. I got nearly top marks on my interview, so i did my best!
Best of luck to you all!0 -

That is the best way to look at it. I'm just waiting for exactly the same letter to arrive in the next few days. Talk about boosting us up and then letting us down with a bang. At least because we have this forum we know what to expect now. Better than to still be expecting a job and then get this out of the blue.......
Best wishes to you and everyone for something much better to come along. :hello:0 -

I'm a first time poster, but have been following this thread for many months now.
I too got an email from Greater Manchester East and West district office today asking for my preferred locations.
It is encouraging that people might call within 2 weeks but unfortunately for me after all this time I won't be able to accept the post.
My leg is in plaster for the next 10 weeks, followed by a couple of months of intensive physiotherapy.
I am hoping that they will offer me one of the positions they are looking to fill in the new year as I will be back on my feet then.
I first posted the above on November 6th, 2 weeks later I got a phone call offering me a post at my local Job Centre. I explained my situation and was told not to worry as there would be other posts becoming available at the end of January and I would be offered one of those positions.
Today I got the same email as jim jam1.
I'm gutted if it hadn't been for my accident I would be working there. I was unemployed for 10 months before my accident. Now I'm in the same position I was in this time last year but with no money.
I can't believe they are doing this to so many people.0 -
Ptang Yang Kipperbang :
You should try and appeal that letter that they have sent to you.:j Mummy to little Poppy June :j0 -
I'm going to I have the contact details of the person who I spoke with in November.
I really can't see it doing much good but it's worth a try.0 -
more vacancies on the DWP website for Yorks & Humber!0
-
Has anybody got any idea as to the total number of people the DWP has on it's books from this excercise throughout Britain ?
ie) Have put their life on hold - trusting against trust that a job would be offered to them ?
Are we talking about 1000, 10,000 or more ?0
