    Hi all,

I'm looking forward to my start on Monday and have been reading f.dennis' posts with interests as I'm sure I'll be doing similar this time next week.

One thing though, I've still not recieved my letter from them! I got the call a couple of weeks ago now saying to start on Mon 30th at 9.30am and they'd send me a letter confirming this, but here we are on the 24th Nov with no letter. Has anyone else had their letter come very close to their start date?

I'm not too concerned but it is a bit strange!

I also start on Monday and my letter came this morning.

Evening all, congrats to all who have received the call recently :j.

I had my second day today. It was quite boring tbh as I can't do much until I get access to the computers. I did some shadowing and some reading.....

Can anyone tell me how long it generally takes to receive your computer access card?

Also, in my letter confirming my start date it said to take my bank details and NI No. But they haven't asked for any of this yet. Is this because I don't have a staff number yet?

I got my smartcard on my 2nd day in the office (victoriaplum got hers the next week and another guy whos been there a few months waited a few weeks for his lol) It seems to vary!

Your bank details are logged straight onto RM so without computer access you cant put them in, but as long as theyre in before the cut off for next months pay (around the 15th i think) then ur pay will be fine!

Speaking of pays im not happy. I filled in a p46, and yet they still put me on BR tax code which means between tax and national insurance i paid over £300. Tut, i hope they get it fixed so i get it back next month!

I got my letter Sat 21st and I started on Monday!! Don't worry. Phone up your manager at the Jobcentre if your unsure about anything. That's what I did.

I JUST GOT MY CALL!! Still in shock! A nice man phoned and asked if I still wanted the job...think I said yes about 3 times! He went through several locations of which there was no option for the Birmingham city centre ones which I was hoping for but will be working in Selly Oak starting on the 7th December!! I am so pleased :)

Here is my quick recap of events:
    applied in August
    Interview Sept 18th
    Letter Oct 21st
    CRB back Nov 14th
    Call TODAY! Nov 24th

Also I was no. 15 on the list so looks they are working their way down and he offered me a choice of about 8 different locations so there's got to be a good number of positions available.

Good luck to everyone else waiting! :j:j:j:j

That's BRILLIANT news! So happy for you!!!!!!!! Best of luck :D

I really hope I don't have to wait for a few weeks for my cards!!! I'm only on day 2 and already i'm struggling to find stuff to do. Because i'm part of the Daso team, my manager doesn't think there is much point in me shadowing Fortnightly reviewers as I won't get much out of it. Unfortunately because of the nature of the Daso team, I cannot shadow anyone here (as the work revolves around using the phone).

I wonder what tomorrow will bring.....

I had my first day today and am feeling very tired but positive about the job. It has been confirmed that I am employed at an EO position and the letter was wrong (Hmm...newcastle office messing up - you wouldn't believe it would you??????), my line manager is so lovely and she said she was on the phone to Newcastle at 8am yesterday to give them hell for sending out the wrong letter!
Everyone at the office seems really nice and friendly, most of the day was spent reading and going through the training schedule, health n safety etc etc, but then I got to shadow someone for the last hour or so which was really interesting. I'm actually looking forward to going to work each day now (although getting up at 7am for the first time in nearly 6 months was a bit of a killer!). Glass of wine, takeaway then bath n bed I think. Nice early night for me!!
Well done all who have had the call/started, and good luck to everyone who's still waiting.x.x.

    Update:D

Rang JCP at Leeds this morning. The Contract is now fixed term until the end of November 2010, and starts 18th January. Had a choice of only 2 locations. I know that no job is safe at the moment, but bit freaked out about the thought of being 'disposed of' at the end of November next year:confused::confused:

Cripes - 10 months? Why do the contracts seem to be shrinking? in any event, there are bound to be other opportunities to apply for once you have your feet "under the table". Fingers crossed :D

I'm glad it went well! I was tired when I came in yesterday as well. It was weird getting back into a routine after being out of work for 5 months. Keep us updated as to how things go.:o

Still up in the air about it all really. 10 months is just not very appealing at all.

Thanks. Yeah I wasn't too worried by it, just would rather have the letter than not. Will probably give them a call if it hasn't arrived by Fri.
