Hey folks! My first day tomorrow as an AO at the Jobcentre. I am pretty nervous now lol. I have to report to my manager at 9.30 a.m. Nothing has been mentioned about training. Is it usually offsite? Hopefully I will find out more tomorrow. Just can't help wondering what I will be doing...
Best of luck for tomorrow. I am sure that everything will go well for you and you will love it. Be sure to let us all know how you get on0 -

Depends where you're based. If you're in a large JCP office with it's own training facility then you'll be there for the customer service training. Computer system training is usually done offsite. You'll get more details when you start tomorrow and don't worry about training as that'll follow soon enough (it has to!).0 -
Thanks everyone for your comments. I'll be sure to tell u how it goes.
The jobcentre I will be working at is really quite small so I should think all the training will be offsite. When I got the call they offered me to start either on the 23rd or the 30th. So i'm thinking that perhaps training will start on the 30th. Guess i'll find out tomorrow.0 -
Yeah, some trainees in my group had already started at their office 2 weeks before they had their training. They were shadowing only though so like I said, nothing to worry about.0

First thing is the induction which is a couple of days, then you have the keeping same training, also a couple of days. Next you might have core key skills training which is 3 days. The rest of the training is up to you and your line manager to book through RM.
Don't expect to have your training all at one go, if they ssaid 5 weeks it doesnt mean 5 weeks on training, first week you might have the 2 day induction wthen you will report to your office for the rest of the work to meet everyone, shadow etc..second week keeping safe, more shadowing etc...0 -

My job is now getting very, very dull !!! Missing the adrenaline flow, stress and unpaid overtime :rotfl:
Nothing on theWest Yorks yet. Last I heard was that they weren't setting anyone on until after end of November. Probably by the end of November they will say they are not setting on until New Year ! who knows:rotfl:0 -
Good luck to everyone who are starting with the DWP this week:T0

CONGRATULATIONS to all who have had "the call", it seems like there have been many.
Also CONGRATS to Heather for your job at B&Q, really glad you are enjoying it
I was interviewed by manpower but found the interviewers to be really nice. I did think I had no chance at getting the job though as during the interview I tried to take a drink of water but ending up trying to inhale it instead and ended up choking lol. Mind you the interviewer did say he would like to reassure me that it would not go against me if I wanted to breathe water.
Hi DellaD, it's really nice to hear from someone else from the same IRC, I have not heard anything either, just hoping I can join all the others on the bench waiting.
Thanks CaptainCavewoman its good to know there are more of us waiting, from what I could tell on the test days there were loads of people.
Cheers D x0 -

Thanks for this post, it's good to know.
I start my training on the 30th November, where they said I would have four weeks training.0 -
Well,
I just spoke (again) with Employee Services, apparently I have passed "all" checks, and been passed to the recruiting units.. this happened just over a week ago..
So does anyone have any idea how long between "passing of the list" and the magic phone call/letter/email??
I am due to sign on tomorrow, should I ask in person (my JCP is one of the ones I applied for)0
