  • After I had my cry out I made two calls.

First Newcastle who confirmed it was just my CRB check (i think the surname smith is causing a problem) and this should take 10 days. From other msgs I understand I should get something in the post. I know my employment history with the Inland Revenue has come back - that only took a week.
Second I called Hazel back and let her know. She confirmed that there was definately a job for me. Not to worry if I miss the 30 Nov start date as they have a few other start dates at the beginning of Dec. Also I won't miss out on my prefrences.
Trying desperately to keep positive - do I believe anything they say.
Extra info - london south is my area. Bexleyheath/Eltham/Lewisham & Woolwich were my choices.
Going to try and chill over the weekend. Best wishes to you all and thanks for your support.

LOL sorry to bother u everytime i have a question but wondered if you could help. As we know the cut off day for payroll is somewhere in the middle of the month but what i wondered is....if i started on the 2nd of Nov what kind of pay should i expect? From the 2nd to the cut off? Cos that would mean only about 2 weeks wages. We get access to our payslips next week but im just worried that what i get wont cover my childcare etc so a little guidance on this would be much appreciated, so i can organise things etc! Thank you xxx

I don't think the surname will be causing the problems, the criminal records bureau have your other details to search your records.

How can DWP say it will take ten days? the CRB would not have told them 10 days.
You can ring the CRB yourself you know and check on your application.

I wonder if they have just sent it off now, it can actually take upto 6 weeks or more to come back, usually they come back quicker but that is the lead time.

I did hear they are starting people through December aswel so I'm sure all will be well but call the CRB yourself and then you will know first hand.

    And keep on it.

You can call the CRB yourself and ask for an update on the processing of your application.

I don't think your suranme will be causing the problems and I find it hard to believe that the DWP know it's going to take 10 days.

Call yourself and keep on it.
  • Wondering whether any new starters or anyone that knows might be able to help.

I was told to enter my working patter (WP) onto RM. I entered 4 as the number of weeks..it then gave me a table to enter hours. As I am working full time 36 hours a week a entered 7.12 (7 hours, 12 mins) in each box apart from sat and sun where i entered zero. it has been accepted. but it is showing my working hours as 35.6. it has added 7.12 hours rather than 7 hours, 12 mins. I now realise i should have entered 7.2 and apparently i onlky had to enter 1 week not 4. I dont even know what this working pattern thing is. It is not allowing me to edit it..if i enter a new working pattern it says i have already submitted one for the date (my start date).

So if anyone knows the answer to any of the following questions please pm me:

    a) what is the purpose of this working pattern, i am working full time, 36 hours a week

b)what do i enter in working pattern, as in what hours how many weeks etc

c)how do i change it if it has been submitted and accpeted, is there someone i can email in shared services to rectify this, if so what is the email address

please pm me if you can

    thanks in advance

No problem sweetie, you'll get paid from 2nd right until the end of the month, payslips will probably be available on Monday/Tuesday, make sure you check it thoroughly and if there are any problems get onto Shared Services immediately.

Hows it going? Still shadowing ;)?

No idea why they have asked you to complete it, its not something I or anyone that works for me have ever done. If you need to get it changed then you will have to raise a Service request on RM.

Thanks for the prompt reply Sammy. How do I raise a service request on RM.

Hey, i had to do this too and i was told to enter 7.4 in each working day and enter 1 as the number of weeks (i queried this but was told it wont set properly with anymore than 1 in this field). I work 37 hours tho, but im sure if you ask someone they will tell you what to put in. My line manager wrote it all down for me xx
