I applied to IRC 62876 ( EO in Northwest), had my interview 6th october and i recieved a letter putting me on a waiting list. i have now received my disclosure check through...is this a sign that a job offer will be coming soon or do they do the checks on everyone. just seems silly to waste money if they aint going to give you a job lol.

and am feeling a bit poorly, hopefully I'll feel a bit better tomorrow once my tablets have kicked in and I promise to reply then.
Fantastic news to see more of you have had "the call" (it sounds like a !!!!! thing doesn't it?), especially unluckyone and unluckierstill!

Just wondering, when you said BDC's aren't recruiting, is this nationwide? The vacancy I am waiting on is a BDC and the more I read, the more I'm worrying especially after I read Sparky's post about not being told there weren't any vacancies anymore.
Hey fivefootsix,
I was just quoting what I'd been told by the manager at the JCP I'd applied for and also had subsequently received in a letter from DWP that because of the merging of BDC and CCD that there would not now be any jobs available working in these areas. Do what I did and contact the place you were going to work at and ask to speak to a manager. One way or another it will put your mind at rest.
I'm still awaiting something back from my local MP with regards to this whole sorry mess and as soon as I hear anything I will post it on here. My only hope is that as I was first on the merit list somebody retires/gets a better job etc etc, not holding my breath though
Congrats to the two unluckies, guess a change of name is in order now
Best wishes

well my 1st 2 days have been eventful, we have learnt why we do not look for santa claus on the system, why our smart card is god, and where the canteen is , although my 1st day was terrible as my car broke down and was an hour late, not a good start, met some really nice ppl and have more or less decided to take the front facing position offered not the other one, the benefits for working for DWP grow and grow by the day as well as the free physio and counselling etc we had home baked cookies today, got to get ur priorities right ay lol, good luck to all those waiting and welcome on board Ponty xx
Thank you and everyone else! No, I am in the "Barnsley Cluster" and I won't know which until I start as they can place you to either one depending on business needs. I have a week's training at Tankersley Manor first.
I'm sure I'll get more nervous nearer the date and it's worked out well with my current job. Now they won't think I was making it up!!:rotfl:
I think my role will be the same as yours, the lady said it will be facing customers mainly conducting fornightly reviews and admin work which is OK with me!0 -

Exhausted after my first day (been awake since 5am in anticipation lol!). Really nice office with lovely people who couldn't do enough to be welcoming, friendly and helpful. Already had my invitation to the xmas staff "do" (all paid for by B & Q), my new desk, computer, yukky polo shirts and fleece were delivered first thing. Don't think I will be featuring in any of their adverts after seeing myself in the mirror wearing my new reading glasses - never knew I had THAT many wrinkles  Luckily, because we are non-customer facing, we dont have to wear the hideous regulation combats.......I am a larger lady and they are anything but flattering! For all you still waiting and applying for non-dwp positions, I was told that people with degrees are considered over-qualified as they want people who will STAY. Also, they are keen on the more mature employee (just as well!) as they are less likely to be off with hangovers on a monday and more likely to treat customers with respect.
Was really pleased to read that several folk have had "the call" - good luck to you all! Even more good luck to all who are still waiting for a job - your time WILL come.

I went to see the (DEA) Disability Employment Advisor at my local JCP+ today. He was lovely, guess what, he had someone shadowing him, just took on by the DWP, how ironic lol. To be fair she was lovely too. I got slightly emotional, as my disability has been getting me down of late and I just need to get a job ASAP. He has given me a load of info of people and organisations I can get to help me get back into work and who appreciate I have a disability at the same time, unlike my previous employer of nearly five years who made me redundant earlier this year.
He also said that it told him on the screen I had applied for a job at the DWP for an EO IRC 62504 Birmingham. He asked me what I thought of the process and did Manpower or DWP interview me etc.
I explained it was manpower. I said I had advised them that I had a disability before attending the interview, yet when I arrived they were clueless. A hotel porter had to take me to the interview rooms in the staff lift, what a drama lol. I also told him that there were two very young girls who interviewed me, early 20's at the most, the one couldn't even be bothered to look at me when she asked me the competency questions. He said he was absolutely disgusted and implied that he would pass on my comments. Ooooerrrrrr!
I would just like to take the opportunity to Congratulate all of you who have recently had the call in the last few days, quite a few of you too. Well Done and Celebrate, your patience has been well rewarded.
