Guess what guys......I GOT THE CALL  Can u believe it?! I can't! I got the call at 4.55 p.m and when I was pretty much down in the dumps and giving up!! I'm sooooo happy.:j

I was told that it will only be for year and perhaps less or more depending on the economic situation. I don't really care though. I just want a job and I can start looking for internal positions etc once i'm in!!

Congratulations to all who have had the call, i have been at dwp now for 3 months I really enjoy it doing FJR and trying to gain as much experience as possible. One thing I will say is don't rely on being made permanent, I started a few months after the second intake of staff, all of whom are eager to get their contracts extended or be made permanent (and some who will stop at nothing to get recognised ) We have all just been told there are some new starters in nov, god knows where they will be placed, but there are some disgruntled people worried for their jobs now and annoyed that even more people will be trained to do the same roles. There will be one hell of a scramble if any permanent contracts are announced.

Having said all that it is a good place to work, even better if you really want to help people get a job, as most of my customers are genuine honest people who through no fault of their own are jobless.
    Good luck to you all.:T
  • Congrats Heather! I knew you would do well, you deserve it and at least you found out pretty much straight away compared to this whole DWP farce. Sounds like a really good job too![/QUOTE
Thanks a lot! Yeah, finding out within a few days really makes a huge difference! Was feeling a bit disheartened (like loads of folk on here) but now...........Yippee! :j

Good on you for taking this further, please let us know what your MP says as the whole thing is unacceptable. How did you find out in the end that there were no jobs? Did they give a hint when you called/emailed them?
I called today after being told I was high on list by email and was told I had moved up but when I asked whether she knew whether there was a high likelihood of being posted, she didn't know and quite a few of the questions I asked, she seemed reluctant to answer them. I don't know whether she genuinely didn't know or has been told not to say anything. I am worried about waiting and there not being a job at the end of it and not being told about it.
Good luck and really hope you find something soon, the way they have messed people around is quite simply not good enough.

Hi 66 inches (just trying to lighten the mood lol)

I found out about there being no jobs after reading on here that there might not be anymore call centre jobs. This made me email DWP and ask specifically if my IRC was still open or not to which they replied it was but there was still a delay on posting people. So I took the bull by the horns and called the actual JCP where the position was for and ended up speaking to one of the managers. I explained my situation to her and she told me "Forget it, if something else comes along take it". Apparently due to funding and mergers between BDC and CCD there are now no more jobs for call centres nationwide. I then asked her when i was going to be informed of this to which she replied "You weren't".

This is what prompted me to seek out my local MP, as I found it disgusting that they were quite prepared to let me and countless other people just sit and wait for a non existent job! If and when my MP contacts me I shall post on here what she finds out.

Congratulations. Talk about leaving it to the last minute. 4.55pm. I would have thought they were getting ready to go home. Now you can have a good night out .
