  • Firstly congrats to Heather, well done :T

I went to see my local MP last Saturday to see if I could get some answers about this whole sorry mess. I explained that the only info I'd received about the freeze, stopping of recruitment for call centres etc was from this website. She wasn't best pleased and got her assistant to take all the details and promised to look into it first thing Monday morning.

Well lo and behold today I receive a letter from DWP, it confirmed what I had been told about been 1st on the merit list but also confirmed once and for all that there is now no jobs for this IRC and that I will now remain top of the waiting list until the 27th Feb 2010 after which time my details will be removed from DWP records. There was no explanations as to how or why this had happened even though I already knew why.

The final kick in the nether regions was their closing line..........

"Thank you for your interest in working for Jobcentre Plus" Ha chance would be a fine thing!

Congrats to all who have received start dates since I've been on this forum and to all the others who are still waiting or like me were applying for Call Centres good luck in your continued job hunt.

    Hi Sparky

Well that is ridiculous. As you were number 1 on their list you would have thought that they would look to place you somewhere. Good people are hard to get hold of and they must have rated you. I hope you get placed soon.

Guess what guys......I GOT THE CALL  Can u believe it?! I can't! I got the call at 4.55 p.m and when I was pretty much down in the dumps and giving up!! I'm sooooo happy.:j

I was told that it will only be for year and perhaps less or more depending on the economic situation. I don't really care though. I just want a job and I can start looking for internal positions etc once i'm in!!

Regulars on here will remember the interview I had recently with B & Q during which my mum kept phoning about the purse.............
Incredibly, they have just phoned me to offer me the position! I can't believe it!

I have accepted and start on Tuesday!

Its 20 hrs a week for 3-6 months, then full time after that - Permanent.
A nice gentle intro for someone who hasn't worked for 18 years!
Starting salary £16,000 pro rata with uniform provided, twice yearly bonuses, 20% discount at their stores, 6 weeks holidays.

The beers are chilling already - yay!

    :D:D:D

CONGRATS!!! It was your interview that won them over lol :rotfl:

A similar thing, ish, has happened to me although not as severe as your case. I've not been on the forum for a while, so sorry I'm not up to date but your situation sounds dreadful.

Good for you for going to your M.P. I could be totally wrong on this as my knowledge is really out of date, but it used to be you weren't legally allowed to advertise for a post if it didn't exist. Are you going to go back to your M.P or have you had enough of it all?
