  • gross misconduct for things like leaving information lying around on desk, accessing data of people when there is no apparent business need etc.

There are 3 roles at AO level, FJR, Financial assessor and DASO. I would like to be in DASO team.
  • SammyJammy,
Remember my question regarding the continued benefits after one returns to work?

I have found out that as long as you have being on JSA for six months whether it be contribution or income based you will be entitled to the job grant (£100) and one month extra housing benefit.

I also dug around and found out that I qualified for working tax credit although I am single with no children. Apparently as my salary between now and April will be less than £10000, I will get it for those months. You have to call HMRC though to do the initial checks first as to whether one qualifies.

I hope this information helps others.
  • Hi All,

I stumbled upon this wonderful forum whilst googling IRC63183 for which I have an interview for tomorrow. Its nice to see there are so many ppl supporting each other, sharing information and encouraging one another in these difficult times.

I myself will have been unemployed for 21 months tomorrow (was made redundant on the 12th of Feb 2008) so the fact that I have made it through the DWP recruitment process with a couple of success letters for AO / EO roles and an interview for a HEO role has been the light at the end of a very long and dark tunnel.

As you can imagine being out of work for so long, I am eager to get back and on Monday received a call for IRC61488 (AO role in Watford) saying that I could start next Monday 16th November. This was good news but I was slightly concerned as I also received a success letter for IRC62668 (EO role, London) on 20th October but not heard anything since. I mentioned this to the lady that called me and she assured me should I receive a start date for the EO role there would be no problem in me switching over. Satisfied with her answer, I accepted the offer, hung up but then remembered that I would be interviewing for the HEO role this week. I then emailed the DWP using the email address posted somewhere on this forum asking if it was OK to swap roles should I be offered a start date for the EO role and furthermore if it would be ok for to move again should i be successful at the HEO interview. I got a reply late yesterday evening telling me that if I accepted the AO role all my other applications will be withdrawn and would be essentially stuck with that role. It also mentioned I was joint 25th on the merit list for the EO role but could not be given any further information about a start date as the JCP were completing a staff review expected to finish around late November.

Can anyone please tell me which of the above is correct because I am desperate to start work and dont want to be in a position where I have turned down a definite job only to find that I have to wait 6 months for another role albeit better paying. Personally it doesn't make sense to me to keep someone who is capable of fulfilling EO in an AO or I am just being selfish?

    Thanks,
    Mo

    Congratulations - thats great news!:j

Thats been a long wait you have had, but worth it in the end, eh?
Best of luck for the 30th:D
  • I was interviewed for the Administrative Officer post for the North East Essex Area on 6th March 2009, and was told in a letter dated the 29th March that I was placed on the waiting list for the position for 12 months. The criminal record check was received in May. I listed Colchester as my preferred place to work.

I had heard nothing from since then, however on the 3rd November I had a call from a member of the East of England recruitment team asking whether I am still available to work for them. I informed her that I was still available and was then told there would be a few posts coming up in the Essex area in the next few months. Is there any hope that I would be starting there soon? My previous job (a six month contract in a research job at a University) finished in July and I have been unemployed since then. I have found there is little about and getting a bit depressed about it. I noticed on my signing on day that I had to wait at least 40 minutes before seeing someone. Surely at this rate they need more staff?

Further to my earlier post last night, it appears looking from the DWP website that currently they are advertising for some more AO in the area I am currently on the waiting list for. Why have the DWP taken the decision to advertise for the AO and EO when there are people like myself currently on the waiting list waiting to take on the new positions?

    Hi whiskyman,

Thanks for the above, i did try to look within the thread but with 350+ pages i tried the last 20 or so but must have missed it. I also called back the lady that offered me the job in Watford and she reiterated the fact that they have no problem with ppl moving to higher grade but will not allow you to move within the same grade. She also went into detail to explain there was one new joiner at AO level that within one week of starting was told the start date for an EO position they applied for elsewhere and was allowed to go; so as far as she is concerned I will have permission leave for the EO position once given a start date providing I give the appropriate notice if applicable. She also agreed that it made no sense to keep someone capable of being an EO or even a HEO at an AO level. Well thats a big relief but I still feel the need to see what Sammy has to say to totally appease my mind!

    Thanks,
    Mo
