  • Just got the call as promised at the end of last week :j. I'll be working in the National Insurance Team in Cardiff and start on 30th Nov. Not one of my my top choices but pleased all the same.

Only slight concern is that the contract is only fixed till end of Feb 2011 so not quite the 18 month I was expecting .

Congrats to everyone else who has had the call and for those still waiting, hang in there as it will happen.

Congrats, doesn't mean it can't be extended! I think you'll find the National Insurance team really interesting, I spent some time with one of the teams in Newcastle once.

    Cheers Sam (and others)
I'm not too worried about it as I see it as a foot in the door. Who knows what the future holds eh.

I'm so glad you said that it's interesting as I got that feeling from the lady I spoke to (although most of it didn't sink in). I've been trying to find some info on the role but no luck so far. Any chance you can elaborate Sam ? PM me if it's easier ;-)

If its the role I think it is then its interviewing customers who d onot have a national insurance number and require one (either to claim benefits or have a job), you have to check their paperwork to check eligibility and invesitgate documents such as passports to see if they are forged/fake/stolen, you'll mostly be dealing with people that are not native to this country. You'll then submit your findings to the supervisor who will help you make a decision on whether a NINO should be issued. I think it was really interesting as each case is individual and some of the stories (true or otherwise!) you'll hear will both amaze and sadden you.

I would liken it to the immigration officers you see on the airport programmes deciding whether to let someone into the country!

    Hiya mandie2106,

Hope your doing well my friend!

What is happening to this forum of late??
There seems to be a culture of accusal going on.

This is a thread used by allot of regular posters who have helped each other for weeks on here with support and informed advice so why are people getting hot under the collar and misunderstanding what is said.

It's starting to annoy me to be honest.

There is forum etiquette where if you haven't got anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

I know you were trying to help hun! xxx
I have noticed this too. Perhaps it is just the stress of the lengthy wait everyone has had/is having which is causing folk to get a bit shirty. This is totally understandable, but not on here please! Its nice to be nice! :D

Did someone say there was secret info? Or am i being misunderstood here? The thing i have is more in detail and quite happy to share it....was only trying to help!

This was a great help to me, anyway. Thanks Mandie - much appreciated :D
