  • Actually, I did have an interview for EO position in Dundee away back in July and I couldn't attend as it was the day of my husband's funeral. I think that the long wait for the AO position (June to date) has undermined my confidence, which is RIDICULOUS at my age! Will apply anyway - nothing ventured, nothing gained, eh?

Go for it, you have nothing to lose! Just to let u know, there is another one gonna be posted on the 23rd for EO too so u can apply for both....double your chances!

Go for it Heather, the interview is pretty easy, all you have to do is give about 4 scenarios about what you did to overcome a problem, its just basic stuff on how you react to certain situations in the work place, i think we are more or less the same age so we have had plenty of experience ;) Also, its worth a note that i didnt apply for EO role but obviously hit the right notes and some (lots of waffle) so i think i am right that the AO interview is pretty much the same. All you have to remember is the magic 'I did this' kind of thing, not 'we'.
What does everyone else think? ( it seems such a long time ago now)
Anyway, just go for it, its not like you have to do the ole lit/numbers test again, i'm going to apply for other areas now as fed up of waiting.

I agree totally. I went for EO first and wasnt successful (i wasnt prepared enough as i wasnt fully aware it was competency based), then i had AO interview 2 weeks later and was asked pretty much the same questions but less probing (ie, less questions from the interviewers after my response). Its the same competencies at a higher level. If you go on the dwp site there is a really good link which covers EVERYTHING they are looking for in great detail. A colleague showed me it today. I also emailed myself something from work. If you want heather i can email you it...if you pm me your email address xx
  • Just had my first induction session today. It really is quite overwhelming how they just blast you with so much information, I noticed quite a few people almost falling asleep. Shocking how many ways you can get done for gross misconduct

Its mad eh!! I found it all quite boring apart from the HR stuff (annual leave and salary yay haha) and the talk from the information security guy....all about what people have been caught doing etc....scary stuff!

Glad you enjoyed your first day xxx

  • Thank you so much for your support and advice fivefootsix, counterfeit, cap123 and Mandie. Will definately apply (away to do it now, lol!). Hope its not another of those ghastly online Sift tests  I have brought up four children and so EO duties should be a cakewalk in comparison :rotfl:
Will pm you with my email, Mandie. Thank you so much :D

    Be wary!

I was told I had passed my E.O interview back in June. I waited 6 months for a start date and location and have now been informed that they have made an error. They now want to offer me an A.O position that is paying nearly £6,000 less (without so much as an apology for wasting half a year of my time).

I am now busy searching for another job whilst writing a letter of complaint to D.W.P

To be honest I found it pretty boring as well. It was interesting to see that the induction office has a subsidised canteen. I wonder whether my place has one.

We haven't been explained the main HR stuff yet, that's for tomorrow. We were explianed the security stuff.
