And even been starting early (usually 8.30). After my first day i was told as long as i worked 7.24 hours a day i could choose my hours (this will change when i have customers i guess). I dont see it being a problem x0

There may be faults in the current system but if it were privatised (which the Government are currently looking at) it would be a complete disaster. .
Well theres an opinion divulged from that journal of industry and business "The SUN" if ever I saw one.. just because there are faults with how the owner went about the sale does not mean privatisation is bad.Privatisation means profit regardless of the people who get hurt. The current system does work to the benefit of the customers in the long term
I would try a dictionary next time.. you might get the right answer... There is zero difference between public and private ownership.. well, at least a private company has shareholders who have a say.. we own the banks and yet have no say or control.. who gets hurt?? we the tax payer.. to the tune of £4500 per person..We unfortunately are suffering because of the incompetence of the overlords of the system. If people do not agree with the current system why bother applying to be part of it. Apply for a job with a recruitment agency instead.
Errm.. because if you read my posts, I will do what is required to get the necessary job, and to trade it up to a better one.. I dont believe in sitting on my backside waiting for someone else to do it for me.. Yes, I use agencies, I research my own, I use websites, word of mouth and any legitimate means I have.. but then I am not of the opinion that the world owes me a living....
As for disliking the system, yes I do.. it is unfair, fails to treat people humanely, shows incompetence, and is a waste of money and other resources better used elsewhere.. Some folk may be happy with their lot, and power to them for it.. but this thread is not littered with folk praising the process..0 -

Its a really big office and contains Jobcentre, a BDC as well as lots of Head Office teams. Definitely give them a call, nothing to lose.
yes it is there Sammy, gonna call them tomo while on my lunch break, thanks ever so much for ur help xxx0 -
Just a quick update - I first applied for a job in March with the DWP, passed the tests/interview etc, all checks cleared and i had a call on Monday 2nd Nov with a start date of this Monday. So do hang in there everyone, i too was like yourselves. I was number 4 on the list so im sure they are working their way down the list now. Good Luck everybody :-)
That's great news - Congratulations!
BTW, you are extremely patient waiting 8 months, I think I would have given up before now. However, thanks for sharing your news with us, it gives us all a better insight into how things eventually pan out when dealing with the DWP lol.0 -
Just wondering if anyone else has been offered a similar role to myself, the job description is a Job Search Broker, if so what does it actually entail? I initially applied for an AO post but was offered this job. Certainly wasnt going to turn it down after waiting 8 months lol. Luckily i was in a job and just had to give a weeks notice :-)0

That will be an AO post, whereabouts is it based? Not heard of that job role, it could be telephony based where customers ring up and you do a jobsearch for them and give them info about vacancies you find, its called jobseeker Direct (or it was - its so easy to lose touch with these initiatives!)

Hope you manage ok.
Sam
I wish that was offered for the duration of my contract, as due to the distance from my home to the office I will eventually be assigned to, the cost for my daily travel is £8.80 for travel each day, which is quite expensive, a monthly season pass is £135.
On applying for the job I wanted the Brighton office as it is only a 10 mins walk away, but they did not have any space and I was told that it was unlikely they would be taking anyone in Brighton or Hove JCP anytime soon. I was given the option to go on a waiting list and wait for a place to open up. I didn't want to do that knowing the hell just getting this placement.
The salary is also £2000 less than brighton.
I will look at working tax credit as that might help for a while.
Anyway, like I said it is a start and it gets me out of the house and it pay more than JSA, Housing and council tax benefits.0 -

I do not understand how you can say use a dictionary and that there is no difference between private and public ownership. Try and learn the difference. Your point about the banks makes one of my points all the more credible where I said that privatisation is about profit no matter who gets hurt. The bankers at the top have not been hurt. Would you not like a nice pension of over £700,000 a year for failure.
I think that no matter what anyone says to you, you will not listen as you feel that yours is the only opinion that counts.0
