DWP employment waiting list

I was a permanent member of staff with DWP up until I had my daughter and have not worked full time since as hubby's job meant I did not need to. But now he no longer has that job and has taken an 80% pay cut so the wages would really help us out but just cannot wait to find out if I have a job or not. They said to me yesterday that they are waiting for test results to come in but the people who had interviews had already passed the tests!!! So just thinking that I got fobbed off with an excuse and sick of being in limbo. Been waiting 3 weeks and probably will wait another few weeks only to be told "thanks but no thanks" ... not bad considering when I was an AO I regularly did an EO job for zero extra pay ... so my experience counts for zero it would seem.
Never mind, I'm sure that there will be another job out there for me ... probably a carp job somewhere! lolLBM - August 2008 - Debts then - £33390 - 2nd LBM - November 2009 - Debts then - £18500:mad:
Current debt levels: OD £3860, Loan 1 £6091, Loan 2 £5052, Parents £260, Total £16133  As at 01 May 2012 - 51.69% paid off :j

I contacted newcastle today to check if they had sent out reference requests as I needed to change an address on mine, apparently they dont start taking references until the CRB is back.
Ah, right, thanks.
How does the CRB thing work? I sent off a slip giving them permission to do something to do with a CRB. I can't remember what it was as it seems like about 50 years ago (March tho) but the first time I actually filled one in (for them to send) was when I went for an AO interview.
What should be hapening? Should they send me something? I know they've started posting people to some of the areas in the recruitment exercise.:idea:0 -

They have my CRB and all thats waiting now are my references BUT I used to work for the DWP up until December so they are one of my references! As far as I know my current workplace have not received a reference yet either. That seems to be the final sticking point
I am getting bit worn out with it! I turned down a job with the NHS (albeit a really low paid one) as I had a role with the DWP but now I am in Limbo stuck in a job I don't really enjoy
Whinge moan whine over!
Can't you just apply for reinstatement?Numpties...I'm surrounded by them...save me...:whistle:0 -

When i filled out my CRB form I was told to put the DWP address on the form and then it would be sent back to HR rather than me and would be quicker! Ha some joke that is. I have been waiting since 16th march when I had a success letter but on a waiting list. I have found out since that I was pulled off the list for pre-recruitment checks, but am still waiting. I rang them yesterday and was told that they do not write tot previous employers anymore they use HM Revenue and Customs - how or why I don't know. Very frustrating!0 -
Yes I have been to several London assessment days, over the past few weeks, and after passing tests had 6 interviews. The the interviews were held at Hammersmith JS, Edgeware Road JS, Bromley Regional JS (twice), The Oval, West Ham Footbal Club. I have so far been offered 4 positions :T subject to checks. I have withdrawn from one region as too far to travel daily. I have to say the process differed depending on region. You were either tested and interviewed on the same day or tested then interviewed on another day. Some were run very well and one was a farce .
If you were considered to be a suitabe candidate they would ask you to choose prefered locations at the end of the interview. Though this was not the case for all interviews.
I have also applied for a London Region HEO post and completed the online test. From talking to a couple of the managers interviewing me several existing DWP staff also applied for the HEO roles but did not manage to complete the online timed test.
The London region has a lot of EO vacancies though they are mostly 18 month fixed term contracts.
I did bump into the same people applying on the days i went for an interview. Hopefully they were successful as well.
Best of luck to all those that have applied.
Cheers

When were these other interviews?
See, I recieved an invitation to attend tests in both Hammersmith and at Westham as I have already previously passed, I rang them up and they said they would send out an interview date? I still haven't recieved anything lol. Perhaps it's cause I'm applying for the AO post.
In terms of the Central district post, would that be all around London? That's the interview I have attended.0 -
I think the more we are on here, the more we are getting frustrated about people being on waiting list and people waiting for pre-employment checks. We will all drive ourselved insane, by the time they say we have a start date, we all would have been admitted to Mental institutions. LOL!
I know i am on the verge of cracking, if i don't at least hear something. We all need money and the crazy thing about it all is that, when we were looking jobs with no outstanding job offers, we did not get any job offers. I have now turned down a job offer (pay was crap) i feel like i am waiting in limbo land. Anyway who are the HM and Customs, what the hell does that have to do with them taking up references?0 -

Now you see I rang them today as one of my personal references is off on their hols v soon and they said they just contact my old employers. No mention was made of HM Revenues and customs! Its all a bit confusingThe World come on.....0 -

The reason previous employers are no longer used by a new employer to obtain references is due to the fact employers cannot write references based on personal opinion as they are potentially defamatory.
I have worked for employers who have said at the outset they do not offer employee references but will answers employment history questions requested from any future employer i.e. days taken as sick in last 12 months, time keeping, disciplinary action etc....
The cost and time replying to reference requests has also put off many companies from writing references.
The reason the DWP use HM Revenue and Customs is that many DWP positions only require a c.v. with salary history . Many people may up their salary which can be checked through a P60 history trace.

Aaah! Now that makes sense because the person who I spoke to yesterday said that the references from employers only verify start date etc and do not give personal references. HM Revenue and Customs do hold a lot of info on income etc. Will this speed the process up?? Hmmmm!0 -
Hi
Was turned down for DWP vacancy for EO last month. I received a telephone call from Capita this week asking me to go for an interview this Monday for another vacancy I have applied for. I have to take with me yet again all ID etc. I will not have to re-take the literacy and numeracy tests as I passes these at my first interview
Has anyone any idea why Capita have contacted me and not DWP in Birmingham as per my first application?
Also, can I contact DWP to see what my interview score was for my first interview
Many thanks0
