Just received this email response, this is for the South East area...........................................

I should explain that whilst Resourcing administers selection activity on behalf of Jobcentre Plus, any decision to offer a successful candidate a post is made by the business area. Currently Jobcentre Plus are reviewing their staffing requirements across this region; they have advised that they expect this process to be complete by the end of October. Unfortunately, until we receive further information from Jobcentre Plus, we are unable to post successful candidates from this selection exercise.

Once these discussions have finished we hope to start posting candidates again in merit order.

Its all very confusing and time consuming!!!! Oh well, wait another day, week, year ...........................!!!!!

So what can you fail a CRB check on? Getting paranoid now! lol

Its a basic criminal record check, I think mine came back with:

    CONVICTIONS: None
    CAUTIONS: None

Not really anything to worry about .....................
  • Gave Newcastlea call - didnt quote any refs or anything just enquiring

They said it takes 20 days for all the checks to complete (but often happens sooner)
They will then start send job offers out now the freeze is over

Hopefully this is good news for everyone

I'm waiting for my checks too, I hate the waiting. Hope we all hear soon.
Did you phone the number on your success letter or the phone number you were given at your interview?

You'd be surprised how many people fail the CRB checks!!!! SOmeone told me the other day in their area that out of 12 successful applicants only 5 got thrgouh the CRB, I was amazed.

I find it bizarre that they do CRB checks anyway, they cost £120 each apparantly and if you look on the CRB website it states y
ou only need them if you work with children/vulnerable adults (I'm not sure being unemployed counts as vulnerable in the sense they mean it, although its enoguh to drive anyone crazy after a while.)

Must have been one heck of a rough area!:rotfl:

Basic disclosures only cost 24 pounds each. I see why they do it... you're working with payments as well as some very private and sensitive information. Would you want your personal details being read by someone convicted of fraud? Or even worse, someone convicted of assault or stalking?

  • Apart from CRB what other checks do they do?

They do your 3 year work history check as detailed on your success letter, and also a health check apparently.

Unsure as to when they contact your personal referees as none of mine have been yet.

If your employment history checks out with hmrc then your personal references won't be contacted. Hope that helps.
