Not if he has been there a while, we never had literacy and numeracy tests back in the day! I would have pointed it out to him, I cannot bear poor spelling and grammar."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -

This is how confusing the DWP is. Yesterday I was told I was number 33 on merit list, and that the freeze is still on until the end of the month. I have today received this email.
Unfortunately I an unable to tell you where abouts you are on the merit
list, but your papers have been passed to the business and yes the
freeze has been lifted so all that you can do now is wait for the
business to contact you.

Employee Services Resourcing0 -
The trouble is the people you are speaking to don't actually work for DWP they work for Shared Services which is an outsourced part of DWP. Don't worry, if and when you get a post they'll frustrate you just as much as an employee!!!! I believe the freeze has been lifted in certain areas so if you speak to someone other than that looking after your vacancy they may be telling you that based on the region their vacancy is based in.
Hope that makes sense!

I too, like Mystygirl, went to the IRC62404 interviews on 16th September for the West Midlands. I received the success letter on 8th October.
I telephoned yesterday and was told that I am number 44 on the merit list. I havn't yet received any checks back through the post.
Waiting hopefully.0 -
Is there a 'special' time to ring the DWP to find out where you are on the merit list etc? I'm having no success in getting through. I have received my success letter and the pre-recruitment checks are going on but I'd really like to know where I am on the merit list or if the recruitment freeze has been lifted.
Never wanted a job so bad in my life, and now I'm facing the fact that I've been successful but may not have a job at the end of the whole process. I never said patience was MY virtue! Lol0 -
Gave Newcastlea call - didnt quote any refs or anything just enquiring
They said it takes 20 days for all the checks to complete (but often happens sooner)
They will then start send job offers out now the freeze is over
Hopefully this is good news for everyone0 -
Just spoke to a v nice man who said i'm 9th out of 17, i'm amazed with the amount of people interviewed that there's only 17 on the list.
He also confirmed that the recruitment freeze is still on nationwide, and that only certain areas desperate for staff are recruiting, the rest of us need to be patient until November. Which does conflict somewhat with what others have been told - oh well.
Keep everything crossed for me - I really want this.0 -

You'd be surprised how many people fail the CRB checks!!!! SOmeone told me the other day in their area that out of 12 successful applicants only 5 got thrgouh the CRB, I was amazed.
I find it bizarre that they do CRB checks anyway, they cost £120 each apparantly and if you look on the CRB website it states y
ou only need them if you work with children/vulnerable adults (I'm not sure being unemployed counts as vulnerable in the sense they mean it, although its enoguh to drive anyone crazy after a while.)"You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "0 -
So what can you fail a CRB check on? Getting paranoid now! lol0
