DWP employment waiting list

I've been told nothing of 'waiting lists' unfortunately otherwise I wouldn't be quite so miffed.
June 25th was the closing date for applications.
The letter said that I had been 'successful at interview and I would be offered a position on completion of the necessary pre-appointment checks.'
It finished with 'we look forward to working with you in the NEAR future' which is a bit misleading too.0 -

Your letter definately sounds promising. Good luck. Hopefully you get the call soon. I know from experience (i applied in april, and only just got the call today) how frustrating it can be, the endless wait, but hang in there xxx0 -

Let me know how your little one gets on with the nursery! We are going to visit our nursery tomorrow and will discuss everything then. The lady on the phone has provisionally booked Sonny a place and if im happy with everything he will have a "settling in" session the Thurs/friday before he is due to start full time. Im getting worked up about it, but he'll probably love it and be thinking "yeehaa peace from mum for a bit" LOL
I know, it'd be nice to start with a familiar *face* lol.
I'm sure Sonny will be fine, my little lad ran off and didn't look back when we visited last week. It reassured me, but I still think i'll have to fight back the tears on my first day at work. (I'll probably turn up at the Job Centre with mascara all over my face :rotfl:)
So glad this 'freeze' appears to have lifted ?? Hope the rest of you hear GOOD news soon!!!!0 -
Hi f.dennis
Thanks very much for your advice. I have to say things have taken a strange twist: I decided to call today with my decision in case the location I wanted had been given to someone else. I'm really grateful to even have a job offer so I decided to accept the AO position.
Anyway, when I called I got through to a colleague of the lady dealing with my case and to my relief the guy told me that in fact I could remain on the EO job merit list, even if I accepted the AO job!!!! :rotfl:
I had to ask him twice to make sure this really was the case and he promised me that it would be fine, as if an EO job came up in my area I would be able to transfer and then the AO job would be 'back-filled'.
You're right in any case that it's much easier to look for internal EO positions once you're inside the organisation.
I'm pretty sure that others will have the magic call soon. I had pretty much given up since like the majority of people I could never get through to the contact on the success letter . What a joke! Still, I'm not complaining now. Just hope I get the paper work or I'll still be wondering if it was all a figment of my imagination!! LOL.
Wishing you all the best of luck xx
Thats good news then!0 -

I wish that you just had some kinda guarantee that there is gonna be a job out of it. I've got an interview on monday for an insurance company but obviously want the job centre one. Thus i'm in a dilemma because if I do get the job then I must let them know that I will leave if I get the job centre job as its only fair to them, and will make me look bad if i up and leave in a couple of weeks. BUT, what if there isn't a job waiting for me at the jobcentre? I wouldn't want them to know that I could be leaving as I might not be......DAMN YOU!!!0

Thus, I feel as though I am actually losing work because of this. Companies won't want to employ me if i'm gonna leave.0

But id hate to rely on my wage for xmas, use the bulk of it, then be left until the end of January with little to survive on! Actually, im just happy to be signing off of income support and get a wage at all, yeeha!
BTW i was advised today of the benefits i could get because im going back to work as a loneparent. Its exactly a yr tomorrow that ive been on income support so will get £40 a week for the next year (woohoo) a £250 job grant, and rent etc paid for a month. Do u think the DWP are keen to get lone parents back to work at all? lol
Also Mandie, ask your lone parent worker, they have access to give you an ADF - which is a 'Advisor Discretionary Fund' which pays the first 2 weeks childcare (it is paid IF the nursery require upfront payment of fee's.
Dont forget the council tax paid for the first month too0
