i am told that there are merit lists and waiting lists, but at the moment there doesn't seem to be any difference. anyway it's nice to know that other people are in the same boat. i think its a wait and see until end of october?

Yep pretty much. Was there any mention of a waiting list on your letter? If not then you should be on the merit list which means you get placed before those on a waiting list. Unfortunately, as there isn't a time frame for this, your right in saying that there isn't much difference, not until recruitment starts again at least.

yeah have been told i'm 18 on merit list but as your previous comment it doesn't seem to make much diff. i am surprised they manage to recruit anyone at this rate.

The merit list/waiting list thing is pretty confusing. After my interview i got a letter dated the 3rd of june saying "you have been successful and are now on a 12 month waiting list. We hope to offer you a post in this time however we can not guarantee it". then i got a letter dated the 10th of June saying "You have been successful, we are now undertaking pre-recruitment checks." bla bla, u get the point. I got both letters within a week of each other. When i asked why i was told that i had scored highly enough to be on the merit list so i should never have even been sent the waiting list letter. Anyway i got the call with a start date today so regardless of lists, there must be jobs for most of us! But to be honest, there are people getting jobs who are on both lists, so good luck. The call will come soon enough xx

From what it says in your waiting list letter, you would think that being on a merit list DOES guarantee you a job whereas a waiting list doesn't. DWP are so confusing......lol

This info contradicts what the lady who called me the other day stated!! I have had the waiting list letter, 2 days later I was called and she told me that they were waiting for checks to come back as well as where the jobs were and they would then start to work down the list and place people, she even asked me where my choice of JC would be....

    All very confusing:confused:

ive had the call ref which job centre i preferred, all checks are complete and on the merit so all seems to be going well, slowly but well. i think it's just a matter of waiting.
