DWP employment waiting list

When I phoned up DWP about a week ago asking for info as to a start date, they said that since my checks have cleared and been passed onto business services they no longer deal with my application and to just wait for business services in my area to call and give me a start date. I think DWP can only really help at this stage of the application if you have been waiting for a long time (like 4-6 months) for a start date and want to make a complaint.
I think your right there. I got my success letter on 10th of june and checks were completed at end of July. I emailed Louise perry asking what was going on cos i had been fairly high on the merit list since (32nd) and not moved at all but i knew of other ppl who had been posted in my area who applied around the same time. Because of this, a lady called Florence agreed to chase it up because "i had waited a considerable amount of time"....however my previous attempts to chase it up were unsuccessful. Coincidentally (or not?) i got the call today, after Florence had chased it up on Friday lol. Maybe they will only chase it up if they think its been too long a wait etc. Im not sure tho0 -
I'm just stunned that they can actually interview for jobs that either don't exist or are earmarked for someone else.
I've been waiting 10 months for a job with HMRC after receiving my 'success' letter and have been told that unless a job comes up in the next six weeks I'm off the list and my 'sucess' will count for nothing as I'll have to start from scratch again.
It's pretty appalling. Thankfully I have a job but when you're told you're successful you expect to be moving on pretty swiftly.
I think its appalling also. When did u first apply and was it a waiting list you were put on?0 -
Hi, going by what everyone on here has said i do not think this is "THE CALL" Newcastle send your file to the Job Centre you applied for and it is them that give you the call .... Maybe Newcastle are ringing to let you know your files have been passed... Have you recieved your disclosure Scotland??? Because this could be another reason.
I really hope its good news
I tend to agree, but only because its not been too long sicne interview stage etc. I reckon it might be more to do with your checks. But good luck, i hope it is the good news you are looking for xx0 -

Now, does this sound like it's THE CALL... or probably just nothing?
I had interviews both on the 7th and 9th of September, so it's been about a month now, references were sent over two weeks ago for both, etc.
I can't wait until the morning to phone him back and see what's up. Just wish he'd given more information in the message, it's got me thinking now
By the way, both jobs are Chester based - IRC62230 and IRC62214.
I think because you were only interviewed last month it might be likely to do with your checks etc, however i wish you good luck and hope it is the news you are looking for. Please keep us updatedxx

Well done Mandie!!!!!!!!!! You start on the same day as me (although i'm in West Yorks) I knew you would receive good news this week! :j:j:j:j:j I've just booked my 16 month old son into nursery this week, we have our 'settling in' sessions next week. I too, will cry more than him. LOL.
Counterfeit - I have been down to my local JCP today to speak with my advisor and have been told that the 4 days training in Hudds is just an induction into JCP policies and procedures etc, and EO's actually receive 13 weeks training!!! I was so relieved to hear this... so I thought i'd share
Also, payday is last day of the month - even in December!! so remember to save some of your November wage for Christmas  although I *think* you can apply for an advance on your wage if need be?0 -

Thanks Deejay! woohoo we start same day, pity its not the same area lolLet me know how your little one gets on with the nursery! We are going to visit our nursery tomorrow and will discuss everything then. The lady on the phone has provisionally booked Sonny a place and if im happy with everything he will have a "settling in" session the Thurs/friday before he is due to start full time. Im getting worked up about it, but he'll probably love it and be thinking "yeehaa peace from mum for a bit" LOL

i started a job this week, with the firm in question in full knowledge that i could leave at short notice should the dwp contact me with an offer. I presume that they think that i will enjoy this job sooo much i won't want to leave if i do get an offer :rotfl:
Well done to you:t:t:t keep us informed. Seems to have gone really quiet on the dwp sheffield vacancies don't you think?
Received an email today from newcastle informing me that all checks are now complete for the west yorkshire vacancies, so you never know i may hear something soon. I think that it will more than likely be after christmas now though, but you never know:d
congratulations to all of you who have had start dates:beer: Really pleased for you all:t:t0 -
HEO Online Test.
I just did the online test for an HEO position, it was very much like the EO online test as it was timed and some of the questions were the same.
I made some very silly mistakes with the math ones. My question is:
1. Does anyone know the weighing that each section carries?
2. Is there a minimum one must score in the math sections?
Any help would be appreciated.0 -
hi all, i've just been told that i have been selected for an interview for an insurance company on monday. Obviously i'm really happy as i've been applying for jobs after jobs. I'm really worried though because job centre is the job i really want as its better pay etc. If i do get offered this job and receive the 'call' very soon after, can i still hand my notice in even if i've only just started??
I'm at the jobcentre tomorrow to sign on so will ask about it then but i'm worried that they'll say i'll just have to stick to the insurance job even though its not really the area i want to be working in.
Any thoughts greatly appreciated.0 -

I actually think the thing about the december pay is pretty good. I must be mad lol. But id hate to rely on my wage for xmas, use the bulk of it, then be left until the end of January with little to survive on! Actually, im just happy to be signing off of income support and get a wage at all, yeeha!
BTW i was advised today of the benefits i could get because im going back to work as a loneparent. Its exactly a yr tomorrow that ive been on income support so will get £40 a week for the next year (woohoo) a £250 job grant, and rent etc paid for a month. Do u think the DWP are keen to get lone parents back to work at all? lol0
