I got 'the call' today, I start on Monday.:D
Does anyone know that the DWPs policy is on tattoos/piercings?
thats great, what irc and area are u, re piercings, i wore my lip piercing to my interview as forgot to take it out, they said it was not a problem and encourage individuality, and i think Jess bob said something about her local office having ppl with tattoos everywhere, (only remember this as i have a fair few lol)
but mine can be hidden, suppose it depends what they are and where they are,
oh and one of the girls (who worked for DWP) on the open day had bright pink hair lol0 -

Oooh, yay. That makes me so happy. I used to have pillarbox red hair but have dyed it brown in the hope that would help with my job hunting!0 -

YAY well done! Looks liek today is a good day for us all so far. Hope many many more also get the call!
As for tattoos piercings etc i actually asked about this at interview cos i have my tongue pierced and a few tattoos (not hugely visible and can be covered up). I was told that they treat everyone as individuals at DWP and altho they do have guidelines they do not discriminate again people with tattoos and piercings. I guess if you were to go in with multicoloured hair and loads of facial piercings and tons of tattoos they might ask you to adapt your look a bit, but otherwise you should be fine!0 -
Well thats me stopped jumping about like a mad woman, and ive arranged to go down and visit the childcare centre Sonny will be going to (its like 2 mins walk from the job centre i'll be working at). They have provisionally booked a place for him so thats good. And i have an appointment with my lone parent advisor at the job centre that i'll be working at (lol) tomorrow to discuss what we do now, ie, job grant, continuing housing benefit for a month etc etc. It will feel sooo good knowing that after tomorrow i'll be sitting at the other side of the desk lol. My only concern now is that Sonny will be in childcare from 8.45am til 5.15pm mon-fri, but he should be ok eh? He loves the creche he goes to at the minute, but now i feel guilty a little bit. However this job will change both of our lives for the better so theres no choice really

Hi everyone - I just wondered if anyone has had any word about IRC 62404 (Worcestershire area)? I completed the tests on 09/09/09, interviewed on 16/09/09 and received my success letter today (08/10/09) saying that they are now undertaking pre-recruitment checks.
ps .. what a fantastic forum, very informative with a bunch of friendly people!0 -

Ive looked thru all my documents and i cant find anything about them. She said theres one "partnership" and one "nuvoss...i think thats it, i might have written it down wrong". Does anyone have the info about them that i could have a look at. Or maybe SammyJammy you could help? Thanks in advance!
Congratulations!!!
I had "the call" just before the recruitment pause / freeze was announced and I'm due to start on 19th October ... which seems to be a popular date. It's for IRC 60418 Coventry and Warwickshire.
I've had a formal offer letter which advised me that I've automatically been enrolled in the Nuvos Pension Scheme but I can transfer to the Partnership Scheme if I want to. Having no idea about what these schemes are, I googled "Nuvos Pension" and came across another thread on this forum site. There was a bit of information but nothing really useful. I did however, find the following website which has a Pension Choice Booklet and details of each of the schemes:
www . civilservice-pensions . gov . uk
(sorry ... can't post a link as I'm a Newbie)
I've decided to stick with the Nuvos Scheme but you will obviously need to make up your own mind as to which one is best for your circumstances or if you want to opt out.
Hope this helps.
Good luck in your new role.0 -
Congratulations Mandie!!!! It's all starting to happen isn't it!!0

Actually ... does anyone here know if you can select a different pension scheme if you've already got one? I have one from my previous employment, and it would be far easier for me if DWP could simply pay into that one instead of having to fiddle around with transfering my current one into a DWP one (or the DWP one into my current one when I leave DWP ... assuming I end up with DWP at all, I'm hoping my other app is going to give me good news later this week or early next).0
