IRC 61418 is for Black Country, my letter had no mention of a waiting list, just 'thank you for attending the interview, i am pleased to inform you that you have been successful. we are now undertaking pre-recruitment checks and you will be contacted again once the are complete to confirm whether or not we are able to offer you a post' I got a letter last weekend about the freeze.

Tbh I would go for the AO job because who knows what will happen in a few months time let alone tomorrow lol. I wouldn't take the risk. Also you can always apply for an EO job once your there.:o

    Hi f.dennis

Thanks very much for your advice. I have to say things have taken a strange twist: I decided to call today with my decision in case the location I wanted had been given to someone else. I'm really grateful to even have a job offer so I decided to accept the AO position.

Anyway, when I called I got through to a colleague of the lady dealing with my case and to my relief the guy told me that in fact I could remain on the EO job merit list, even if I accepted the AO job!!!! :rotfl:
I had to ask him twice to make sure this really was the case and he promised me that it would be fine, as if an EO job came up in my area I would be able to transfer and then the AO job would be 'back-filled'.

You're right in any case that it's much easier to look for internal EO positions once you're inside the organisation.

I'm pretty sure that others will have the magic call soon. I had pretty much given up since like the majority of people I could never get through to the contact on the success letter . What a joke! Still, I'm not complaining now. Just hope I get the paper work or I'll still be wondering if it was all a figment of my imagination!! LOL.

Wishing you all the best of luck xx

If you know there's people lower on the list who have been placed, you should definitely be phoning DWP and asking for a full explanation about why you are still waiting and when you can expect to be placed.

See if you can find that email address for Louise Perry or whatever her name was as well. Email her everything you can about your application and that you know others lower down the list have been placed while you haven't.

DWP policy is very clear on this: if they're placing people lower on the list than you then you have a right to complain and get some answers.

I agree, you must pursue this and get all the evidence together that you can. It was confirmed to me that the rules have changed (from when, I don't know) but basically they used to place 'successful' people as and when their CRB and other checks were completed. NOW they have to place people according to their position on the merit list to make sure that it's fair (although I'm not completely sure they know the meaning of the word!
