DWP employment waiting list
Comments

Good news on the 19th of october start dates - has everyone who has been given those been waiting for several months? I'm guessing that if there was a backlog of successful applicants before they started their recruitment drive during August they will be posting those first before moving onto the most recent set of people that they probably shouldn't have given the impression they had a job waiting for them.
Anyway, I finally got a response from the guy on my letter - turns out (as I feared) that he did indeed have a 1 after his name in the generic DWP email address so my message went to someone in Huddersfield! Here are the bits relevant to everyone else, copied & pasted (grammar & spelling mistakes included:)) :
"
your checks cleared on the above exercise on the 29/09/09 and we are awaiting start dates from the business and then we can post applicants, however a word of caution, as a message has been issued by DWP management to pass onto all recent successful applicants, it reads as follows.
We wrote to you recently about your application for employment with Jobcentre Plus. I am sorry that we have not been able to follow up with more definite information. We are currently reviewing our staffing position, and will be in touch once we have a firmer idea of future opportunities. We do not expect this to be before late October
It appears there maybe the possibility that your appointment is delayed. Unfortunatley this is the only official statement that has been released and I have no other information to pass on to you.
"
Pretty clear cut. My IRC is in Edinburgh, but the statement in italics is apparently country-wide. The key phrase is that the statement applies "to all recent applicants", hence my earlier theory that they are posting the backlog, people that have been waiting for 6months etc, & once that is done they will essentially see if there are any positions for people that interviewed in late August / early September. So, not fantastic news for people in my position, but at least there is some clarity & transparency - if this had been sent out as soon as they knew about it I'm guessing there wouldn't have been hundreds of posts on this msg board about it!0 -
Hi all!
Just wanted to let you know my situation...there seems to be some progression in the last week or so, doesn't there? Really glad I found this forum and the amazing advice people have given.
My story in a nutshell is that I applied for both AO and EO posts within West of England district. I was placed on a 6mth waiting list for the AO job (letter in July but job further afield) and was 'successful' for the EO job (letter in Sept and job local).
Well, I got 'The Call' yesterday....for the AO job! I didn't expect to hear anything to be honest as I know how many of us have applied for the same positions and clearly there were people who'd performed better than me in that interview. I mentioned that I'd passed the EO interview too, and it was confirmed that I was relatively high up on the merit list (16 out of over 100) which was another pleasant surprise! I was told they were taking the first 12 on the merit list for training in November. It was unlikely that any more EO training would take place until after Xmas. And of course there's no guarantee that there'd be any more jobs anyway, although it was hinted that I had a strong chance.
My dilemma is this: I have to give an answer tomorrow whether I want to accept the AO job but I don't know if I should wait in the hope more local EO jobs become avaiable in the next couple of months. I'm not allowed to accept the AO job and remain on the merit list for the EO job as far as I understand (but the lady was a little vague about that). I guess that would be due to training places and to avoid disrupting the business...but it seems unfair.
I've been unemployed for the last 5 months (I had to relocate and resigned from my previous job) so I really feel the pinch. The AO job would mean spending a fair bit on travel and timewise the commute each way would be 30-40 mins. But it's a job! The EO one would have been perfect with very little travel...
Any advice would be gratefully received. And I'll gladly share any more info I get with y'all.
Take care guys.
NaiJay x
I turned down the AO, waited and waited and waited and about a month later I received the call for the EO, and now I'm happy. Next time you speak to them ask them how long they would expect you to wait for an EO position. If it's not too long then go for it, but if not then take the AO and look for internal posts whilst you're there.
Best of luck:p0 -

mb667584 I think you're right most of the people being posted have been waiting for months - some from Feb, some from Apr and some from Jun. Those who applied in August, looks like they won't be getting "the call" until next year.
I don't know any of that for certain, but thats my theory on the whole situation at the moment. I hope everyone hears soon.
Out of interest is there anyone else out there who applied pre August and are still waiting????? I think it would make others out there feel better if they're not alone in the waiting.
Hold on you guys, I'm sure your call will come soon and I know me saying that won't make any difference to how you feel - I felt like I was the last one to get the call from my IRC.0 -
Yeah the 19th seems to be the date for most of us - although I have heard that the last training sessions will be November and then you have to wait until next year.

I applied in April, had tests and interview in may, success lettter 10th of june and checks all completed by last week in july/first week august, so im hoping i wont be waiting til next year. The lady i spoke to yesterday reckoned im on the next training group for my area and i should hear before the end of the month as to a start date for this, but until i actually get the call im not getting too excited lol0 -

There have been some people on this forum getting 'the call' who had their interviews in August and successful letters in September. Perhaps this is in areas though that don't have a backlog of previous applications.0 -

Not sure how ur area are doing in regards to the freeze/pause but i heard that even with no freeze u can expect to wait anything upto 9 weeks (altho many of us have been waiting months....i had my success letter on 10th june and all checks completed at end of july lol) Good luck an i hope u hear soon x
Thanks mandie2106. I received my CRB check at the beginning of September, successful letter mid August, I don't know what to think now!0 -

October 19th for me. Got the "call" early this morning for IRC62226. My interview was 2nd September and the tests the week before, so I have not had to wait too long. I have been reading the forum for several weeks now and would like to congratulate all those who have recently been posted and hope everyone waiting hears very soon!0

CONGRATULATIONS!!!:rotfl::T Well done!! What was your timeline from when you first applied to getting the call?
My timeline is :
Applied on June 5th
Test Online - June 27th
Interview - 15th July
Success Letter Received- Sept 3rd
Disclosure Back - September 16th
Got Called Today - October 7th - to start 19th October
The area is surrey and southeast one of the areas affected by the freeze. Last time i spoke to someone, was told to keep looking for another job. Those still waiting. Do not despair. You will definitely get the call very very very soon.0
