Here's my timeline as it currently stands:

    Apply: 25 June
    Online Test: 30 June
    Interview: 16 July
Success Letter: 4th Sept (from memory - it's dated the 2nd)
CRB back: 15th September (dated the 9th)
The Call: Should be before the end of October.
6 month NI based JSA runs out: 7th November from memory

Here's hoping either DWP or my other app get me employed before that first week of Nov so I don't have to go through applying for income based JSA.

This afternoon I got THE CALL!!!!!!!

I was at the top of the merit list(IRC 60369) but I have not gotten my first pick of location... it's not the higher base pay office I wanted(brighton is supposedly overstaffed) and I'm going to have to pay for travel, but hey it's a job :D. Very happy after being told I would have to wait until the end of october at the very earliest.

I start training in bognor next wednesday and I will be placed in the worthing office in a customer facing role.

Good luck everyone - it does seem as though some areas have overstaffed, but they seem to be trying to place us all somewhere, even if it's not our first choice.

Congratulations man. It is indeed good news for those of us waiting. I am waiting on 60370 but it seem likely that I wont get the brighton office which would have been ideal for me as I live 7 mins away walking. I did pick Hove, Worthing and Brighton so hopefully I will get one. Does anyone know what the salary is for worthing? I am supposedly 33 on merit list (I was told that this afternoon).

    Thank and again congrats.

    Congratulations man.
I can assure you that Slitty is very definitely not a man :D:p

From what I know, the only offices in our area that are taking on staff are Worthing and Bognor.

Worthing pay rate is the same as the national rate: min is £20,240 I think. Brighton is a few grand more than that, but they aren't hiring at all.

I don't think Brighton or Hove have any spots at all for AO's or EO's from what I heard today... they are badly overstaffed and probably won't be hiring many people(if any) until a new budget comes into effect march next year. I also applied for 60370 but I'm further down the list than you. Sounds like you'll get an offer in worthing, bognor or some of the other places. The pay scale there is national standard for EO's, just over 20k I think.

Update for me: I'm a 'little way down the list' but I'm on their list of people to be contacted, most likely in ~2 weeks once they know which office(s) they can offer me.

    Thylacine,
I am not sure who you spoke to at DWP. But, I am very grateful for your updates. I had hoped to get Brighton office for EO position but from your contacts it would seem that brighton is out of the picture. Would you know how much worthing or hove would be paying? I am assuming that it is the same for the 60370?

Sorry if my post is confusing. It is just that this job hunting and waiting is driving me bonkers!

    Thanks

Thanks for your very quick response. I will take a job in timbuktu at the moment. Interestingly I called my person at the DWP last week who told me that all my checks were clear except for my ATOS - Occupational Health. I was surprised but I being proactive called ATOS and was able to get that done with a thumbs up from them. I then called DWP and was told that they will now be sending the files over to Business Services. Luckily I asked or I would be sitting with that one thing holding me up.

I hope you get something soon and thanks for the updates.

Yes, because I'll lose my benefits if I refuse. Having said that, though, I've got an application in progress that's looking really good (for a company in London ... £4000/yr travel expenses - OUCH! - but higher pay as well). So a delay on an offer from DWP while that other app progresses is welcome (as long as I get that job!)

Surely if the finances don't work you can refuse without affecting your benefits?

Finances work, they just don't work as well.

More to the point, it's work in an industry I would want to get out of again ASAP (DWP) or work in the industry I've been building a (so far) successful career in for the last few years.
  • Anyway, I got the call today...Or rather I received three missed calls as I was still asleep :p and gave THEM the call...Which is kinda ironic, given the situation in this thread...I got my first choice of office, not sure if it will be customer services or admin, as I said I could do both. It's EO. Originally they were phoning about the AO (I applied for both, the AO first by a week or so, so I guess that was being dealt with earlier) but when I said I had also applied for EO they said 'oh, ok EO then' lol
