That is exactly what it is, a fiasco. I've never known the likes.
When were you initially interviewed?
Which area did you apply for?
It's concerning that they are still interviewing??? They should place us before interviewing any further.
All that money, paying capita and manpower, crb checks etc.
The country is in a state. I never feel political but this experience has got my goat.
I emailed my local MP this morning you know, my partner will laugh when they come home, I'm on my soap box now ha ha.
I'm on a sickness related benefit, and was referred to the "famous" Shaw Trust.
They are another joke.
Did anyone see the tv programme about unemployment in oldham, the Shaw Trsut portrayed themselves very, very bad. They were absolutely condescending towards unemployed people!
We are either poorly having a hard time, unemployed needed a break but we are not stupid!!!
A man at the Jobcentre plus asked my my qualifications, then looked surprised and said, ooh your more qualified than me!
I said, please don't look so surprised, I'm not stupid, just not well.
That is one worker that could go and make way for some of us.
i had my interview 01/07 so been waiting a while. just hope i get this nhs job.
good luck to you and dont get to despondent. xxxx0 -
It definitely is a fiasco, especially all the hassle you have to go through and it is not even for permanent jobs, just 18-month contracts. Being put on a waiting list/ merit list with no idea when you might move off, just plain crazy.
I wonder what will happen if the economy picks up or the public sector budgets are really slashed, what will happen to those contracts, I think the dwp will be dealing with this mess for a long time yet.

Has anyone heard anything about the Cardiff waiting list? This is so ridiculous, I've been applying for other jobs but no luck so far, I REALLY need this job, I can't believe that they don't keep us updated and won't tell anything over the phone anymore.
Part of me thinks that I don't even want to work for an organisation that's so inept, but then again, my mortgage needs paying so a job is a job is a job.
Good luck everyone who is waiting, hopefully this freeze will stop soon and we'll all be given jobs.£2012 in 2012 - £13810 -

Hi
I was successfull for the South Yorkshire (AO) and West Yorkshire (EO) positions. I havent been waiting as long as most on here, but the South Yorks successful letter was in August, and the West Yorkshire the beginning of September. It has infuriated me that the only reason I know about the freeze and the possibility of no jobs for us is through this site. Why on earth can't the DWP keep us informed of what is going on. There are people that have given their notice at their current workplace based on the DWP successful letters, and it is absolutely disgusting that they do not answer the telephone, and when they do the information provided just is not precise and we don't really know where we stand.
Are you on any lists for any of the positions?0 -

Thing is the contracts are 'up to 18 months', and if you read a couple of the posts on here, some who have been recruited have found that their contracts are not even for 18 months !0 -

I haven't been waiting as long as others on here either.
I attended assessment on 19th August 2009, and received my successful letter within two weeks.
My pre-recruitment checks were conducted swiftly, they were defo done because I still have contact with previous employers so they made me aware that they had received check requests from the HMRC, which were returned promptly.
I've been sat waiting for the CRB, thinking that when that came I would get my start date.
It arrived yesterday and when I called Newcastle they told me this end of october tale.
I just happened to put dwp recruitment in google and up came this.
It's shocked the hell out of me.0 -

i've tried to find any existing bulletins from the DWP or minister of employment regarding this apparent recruitment freeze but there doesn't seem to be anything obvious coming up.
has anyone read anything?0 -

No just waiting for the info to be cascaded down, within dwp, so everybody sings from the same hymn sheet and then comes the announcement. It looks like they have lost control of the recruitment and have no idea how many they need or how many they have waiting for places that might not exist, if this was the real world heads would role, but it's not, so they will probably just carry on fudging it.

Unless you're in London or the other couple of areas that are still recruiting (I can't remember which ones off the top of my head, but I'm sure they're Northern) you might as well give up on this, in my opinion. Certainly if, like me, you were hoping the DWP would get you off benefits and back into work then you really need to give it up and get back to aggressive job hunting. Success with the DWP clearly doesn't mean success in any sensible context.0
