just thought you might like to know my partner passed all the tests and crb and has been waiting since april and has been told that they hold all your details for 12 months and then if no positions become available then you have to re-apply what a joke.

did your partner have a waiting list letter or not?
  • Are you all gonna start looking for other permanent jobs now? After I got the success letter I looked for some temporary jobs but wasn't worried because I thought I definitely had a job lined up. I just don't know what to do now. Wish someone from DWP would just tell me if i've got a job or not - they don't really seem to know!

I've been continuing to look but there's not a lot going. It felt a lot like this was my only chance for quite a while but I've had some more interest since.

I don't know where you live f.dennis, but I'm applying for the same thing in North London now. It's pretty easy to get to from a lot of the East region.

I know how you feel. There really isn't much about and because the levels of unemployment are so bad in the south east there are loads of people applying for the same job. Thats why I was so relieved when I heard that I had been successful for this job.

After your interview stages did you not recieve a letter to say you had been successful? Strange! I thought u got the success letter and a phone call with a start date! either way if you have been told youve been successful u should be ok but id def phone up to check where ur letter is! Its always good to have something in writing!

I had an interview for AO on 24th July, then a week later the manager phoned me to say that i passed for the EO job!! didn't know anything about that position and still in the dark:rolleyes: Then i bumped into her on my signing on day and she said that i will probably start end of August when CRB cert is received, well i got the cert through about 10 days ago:jso i thought ok, will get to hear something now... but no. nothing, all i get from them is wait for the call.. still waiting.. just applied for another load of jobs just incase.

I just called again and I honestly don't believe a word of anything they're telling me right now. The woman told me that my application HAS been passed to Business Services and that my friend who was asked for a reference this morning doesn't actually need to bother doing it. She claimed to have no knowledge of any Merit list.

I now believe that I was accepted for a job that didn't, and probably never will, exist. I'd be interested in hearing from anyone else who applied for 61569.

When i spoke to someone 2 weeks ago (i phoned just for an update) i asked why my references had not been contacted yet and he quoted "as your checks all came back 100% we no longer need references, however in the event that your referees are contacted by way of error, please notify them that they need not reply".....

well i am back from jobs fair. more like a garage sale really lol. job centre were there so i went over clutching my success letter ready to give them hell. unfortunatly guy on desk had the most gorgeous eyes and i sort of fell under his spell.( i am old enough to be his grandmother lol ) anyway he said he had not heard of this freeze and i should eventually hear. he did say he waited 6 months last year.
anyway it seems a bit more hopefull on here today. last time i asked i was 16 on merit list .
applied for some xmas jobs this morning which might keep me going till dwp sort themselves out. just got to keep smiling.
glad i have you lot though. its a really good feeling to know there are others going through same thing. thanks to you all.

Maisette:rotfl: you were supposed to be looking for a job, not flirting wi the DWP guy! haha.

Did some digging yesterday, as I figure knowing what current unemployment rates are locally would give some sort of indication what to expect. Searched on East Sussex, as that's my specific area. http://www.eastsussexinfigures.org.uk/Documents/Claimantcount08.pdf

So for those waiting on 60369 and 60370 it's good news or bad depending on where you are and how the DWP assesses the current local trends. Those exercises covered Worthing, Hove, Brighton, Hastings etc. Hastings office is probably desperate for staff looking at the graph, however the rest of the region may face reduced placements given we're below the national averages.
  • Update - the DWP are having problems differentiating between elbows and err, bums.

My referee has been contacted this morning, via email, for the other 3 IRCs I passed. He just rang to ask me if he should reply. I told him to forward the original email to each request.

So, is there a freeze in West Yorkshire or not???
It's probably a freeze on actually placing anyone, rather than a complete freeze on processing existing applications.

Think about it ... it makes sense to continue processing people so that as soon as the freeze is lifted those people can be placed ASAP.
