Hi, I'm not posting on the thread anymore, I've had enough of being flamed for trying to let people know whats going on, I found out the other two areas are West Mids and North West as well as London, this only applies to recruitment for Jobcentres not Benefit Delivery Centres.

Hope this affects you. Feel free to let others know.

    Sam

    Hope that's a typo ?

Up to sammy whether he/she wants to post on this thread again or not but I still stand by what I said and feel. As you will see from a quote by sammy that he/she originally said it applies to all Contact Centres and BDC's in the 3 areas !! Now it's just Jobcentres !!
The info is conflicting and contradicting to say the least but hey what do I know. I'm just as confused now as I was on Friday.

The pause applies to all Contact Centres and BDCs.

  • From reading some of the things they're saying I think they have way too many successful applicants waiting on a job. I think they are now buying time- six weeks, to decide where they go from here. Personally, I can't see what difference six weeks will make. They must know the situation now. How can they not have any numbers as to how many people they have and need?

The chances that in six weeks everything will be okay and they carry on setting people on are very slim. It doesn't make sense. I'm not saying no one will get a job but a lot of people probably won't because if they think they have too many now then they have got too many.

What about the people who don't read this forum. Who have no idea of this. Who are sat at home waiting for a call. They won't get to know any of this unless they ring the number on their letter.

Think it's back to applying for job after job again. Any Labour supporters wondering why the Conservatives will win the next election this is a prime example.

Also, why are they still conducting interviews!!
  • Well, this is all very confusing. I am waiting for a call, I am from London and don't know where I stand. Two people from my exercise IRC61298 received the call late last week so I really hope I'm not affected by this. I really don't mind whether it's a Jobcentre or Benefit Delivery Centre for which I receive a call for.

edit: Only last week they posted another advertisement for AOs across London: http://www.dwp.gov.uk/about-dwp/working-for-dwp/current-vacancies/irc62979.shtml
  • Gutted, got sucessfull letter end of August so looks like im in for an extremely long wait if im lucky!!. Are you guys waiting for EO positions as well? Im in the North East so not sure how im affected, probably badly!
  • sorry - wasn't trying to scare people but when we got posted the lady told us that she had been trying to get hold of us for 10 days and the JCP we got posted to was because the only vacancies left were in Hunslet or Morley. I suppose she might have meant that they were the only vacancies convenient to where we live (just outside Leeds city centre).

What area are you in deejay?

They might even have started posting in some areas of W Yorks, though we have both been offered a place in Halifax under a different IRC.

I'm in Kirklees, but I would be happy to be posted in Morley.

I dont know what is going on, and i'm starting to feel angry as well as anxious now! Something is definately not right, I have been trying 3 different numbers all day - no answer to any of them.

Does anyone have an email address or contact number for the head of recruitment? I think it is disgusting how we are being treated and I have a query on this shambles that they call a 'recruitment process'

The thing I dont understand and really struggling to get my head around is that I scored higher than Counterfeit and Bulliebaby for this IRC yet they have been posted and its looking like I haven't got a job at the end of all this. What is the point in scoring people at interview and then placing them on a merit list, only for that to be discounted when it comes to actually posting people? I live approx 3 miles from Morley, I also drive so it would be a 10 minute journey so why didn't I receive a call when this position was available?
Surely the ones who scored higher should be posted first, and if their checks are not complete then it should be down to the recruitment team to chase this up, in order to get our file complete first, and passed onto the business centre?

No offence intended to those who have already got start dates for this IRC, but this is not a fair process what so ever, and if I dont get a position at the end of all this then there is going to be hell to pay... I'll go to the press, i'm sure Take a break will run my story :rotfl:
  • think the press would love this story. the very people who are supposed to help people back into work are actually keeping many of us on the dole. i am furious with the way we have all been treated.
  • I don't think the (tabloid) press can know about this or surely there would be government blood spilt all over the papers.

The whole process is shambolic and is becoming a disgrace. Somebody, somewhere is responsible for this mess and it must be in the public interest to know what is (not) happening.

I am really annoyed now. There has been no response to my calls today, and now they are just disconnecting my calls when I am ringing:mad::mad:

Gosh...... i came on looking for some more info (not this kind!), but if my reading back is right (only read last fewpages), they have paused all intakes??
ie. people that are on waiting lists?? with no start date?

Brilliant... am I just being sceptical or is this intake system just a guise to make it look like they are recruiting lots and helping unemployment figures??

Why bother wasting time, money and resources doing all this and then not employ people?
  • It is the complete lack of communication and dreadful service that I think is one of the most ridiculous things. The phones just ring out, with no one giving a damn about it..it appears. Where else would that be allowed? There must be some sort of complaints procedure for this alone, surely? I know they are busy, but when we are at work..everyone is. The lack of communication to anyone on its list is completely unprofessional. No timescales, no updates, you are just left to fester.

This is a government department and I agree that the whole process is 'shambolic'. Many people waiting for these jobs are on Jobseekers allowance and are being messed about by the very department who is tasked with reducing the numbers of unemployed.

Maybe because we are all waiting on jobs we are more reticent about complaining about how we are being dealt with than we would be in other circumstances?
