This is the number I called - 0191 216 2176 . it came with my crb disclosure. The other number from success letter nobody ever answered but this one they did after 30 seconds or so.
I would be really thrilled just to hear from dwp! very stressful experience. Thankyou for the person who said there are 300 positions. I thought I was doomed at 177 in the list but may be hope yet.
Fingers crossed for everyone !!
this thread should get an award haha0 -

Thanks BB, I was number 45 on the list so hopefully I'll receive the call soon! I haven't had a missed call today like lots of others seem to have!? When did you receive your CRB cert? It appears to be this that is holding my application up!
Will give them a ring in the morning.
It was the beginning of last week, the check was dated 18th August. Make sure you have plenty of time when you try to ring them, it took me AAAAGGGGEEESSS to get an answer!0 -

LOL! It took me approx 6 hours to speak to someone last time I rung them... :rotfl:but I have a direct line to someone who is apparently sealing with this IRC now, so hopefully will get through no problem tomorrow! Will let you know.
Good luck to those who had missed calls today, lets hope you get your start dates tomorrow!0 -
Congratulations!!! I also applied for this Ref# still waiting on the CRB checks though
.
I have the same frame as you, I was interviewed on 6th July and received the success letter on 12th August, just wondering when you received your CRB cert, and get to chose location?
My CRB came through very quickly, just a day or so after my success letter. In fact, all my checks were done very fast because I phoned up pretty much as soon as I got my letter to offer my other CRB certificate (from the AO job) to see if I could speed things up a little and was told that the certificate was sitting in front of her, along with all me other relevant checks. I don't know if it was faster for me because I'd just been through pretty much the same process for the AO stuff. It seems to be a law unto itself!
Edited to add: I never did find out what position I was at, I'm always so grateful to speak to someone that I completely forget to ask! I assume I'm somewhere reasonably high up on the list to have been placed already. My mum will be very proud.0 -

I had my interview for IRC 60269 (Cambs/Suffolk) in early June, the success letter 20th July and the CRB 8th August. I've finally managed to get through to Newcastle and they told me I'm no.34 of 70 on the merit list but that they had now passed my details on to the 'business unit' and could not help me any further (hands washed!). What or who is the 'business unit' I don't know, but the man on the phone could not or would not give me any more information than that.
I'm so frustrated with the whole process, especially as I turned down a sales job earning £45k a year as I want this job.Im now just leaking money and borrowing on the mortgage!
A quick update. I have done some investigative work and have now discovered that the three nearest jc+ have NO positions available at grade C (only AO grade D). I believe this to be true as have spoken to managers within each JC who say that as far as they know only AO vacancies are available, as they have already filled EO some months before. I can't believe it:mad:. I was told that they would be looking to immediately place 70 candidates, yet I am no 34 and they have seemingly ran out of jobs. Can't believe I turned down that other job; I feel completely *!*! on. Why in the world would they put more than twice as many people on the merit list than they have jobs for. I've no number for the mysterious buisiness unit and Newcastle say that they are no longer anything to do with me (apparently the unit has to contact me before they do anything else). I'm helpless, dejected and furious in equal measures.:o:confused:0 -

omg hunny thats awful, i dont know what to say other than im so sorry, have u got anything else lined up or was that it xx0 -
Nothing else lined up. I got the offer of the other job on the same day as the acceptence letter from DWP. All I had to do was sign the contract and send it back and I would have been working a week later. Wish I had read this thread before I tore the contract up! It really could be one of the worst decisions I ever made.0
