Hi. I can certainly sympathise with you here. In regard to your two theories which you think are possibly attributable to your difficulty in finding work, I think it is a combination of both. There ARE too many people chasing each job, and most of those agencies ARE known to advertise fictitious jobs (don't know how they've got away with it for so long!!). The unemployment situation now in this country is DISGRACEFUL. I wake up every morning feeling very low about having to face yet another depressing, soul destroying day of fruitless job hunting.
One thing I should also mention is that I admire you for speaking out like this about your unemployment, as there are one or two individuals on these boards who are far too quick shouting down us unemployed people when we start going on about our problems. These people have NO understanding whatsoever about what it is like being out of work, and I think they have got a damn cheek hurling disparaging comments at us for speaking out about our unemployment problem. EVERYBODY should be allowed to post freely on these boards, and not be dissuaded from doing so by pathetic sniping from these moaning Minnies.
In general, though, most people on these boards are very amicable and inoffensive and helpful (and that is how it should be), and thank God those verbal snipers who slag off us jobless are in a tiny minority.
Anyway, good luck with your job search, and I hope you find something soon.
Best wishes
TrueghoIt's really hard getting a job here at the mo. I don't know if it's because so many people are after a job or because agencies are advertising non-existent jobs, but in the past few months I have sent about 50 applications for advertised jobs and about 40 CV's to places that aren't advertising and I've had only 2 interviews. I have 2 more lined up for the next few weeks. I'm getting sick of writing about my self lol.
A friend of mine who works in a university said something like 3-4 HUNDRED people applied for one position at her place. The most annoying thing is when places don't get back to you to say if you got the job or not. They could at least send an email or something
And every time i go to sign on, the jobcentre is a little more full of people who have lost their jobs or can't get a job.0 -
really?? only the poeple posting on this site are the poeple looking for work are they not? i havnt come across any comments wherby poeple are being negative against someone who is unemployed.0

Hey,
I only found this thread this morning, so this is my first post. I got put on a waiting list for AO in Nottingham 2 weeks ago and was trying to find out more.
The number I've been calling for Newcastle doesn't work. Is there a general number I can ring on? Haven't managed to find one.
Am also not sure about the waiting list - have heard about it being merit based but not sure I understand it.
Any info welcome, thanks very much! Good luck to everyone waiting!0
