My interview was at Radisson on the 6th July, so might be working with you counterfit

Judging by this forum there will be quite a few of us working there. at least we all have several weeks of mutual moaning about the delays to bond us during our training. :D

Has anyone who attended an interview at Novotel Paddington on 25 June heard anything yet?

I live in Cardiff. Cardiff would be my preferred place, wanna keep fuel costs down, but I'm happy and able to travel to Newport if it means I get a job. I put down I could work in Cardiff, Newport, Cwmbran, Penarth and Barry.

    How about you?

Yeah I was thinking it would be a waste of money to just send to everyone, lets hope that is what they are thinking :p

I'm in Newport so put the 2 Newport ones first, then Cwmbran, Caldicott & Chepstow. They're all easier to get to for me.

Could be another week or 2 before we hear anything else then.

I live in Leeds now but was brought up in Newport and Cwmbran. I'd be hoping for Barry or Penarth if I were you - at least you might get a sea view and you will defo get fresh air. But, fair play, you would be kept very busy in Newport and Cwmbran. How is the job market in Cardiff - the outside world is always led to believe Cardiff is a thriving metropolis.

It's really hard getting a job here at the mo. I don't know if it's because so many people are after a job or because agencies are advertising non-existent jobs, but in the past few months I have sent about 50 applications for advertised jobs and about 40 CV's to places that aren't advertising and I've had only 2 interviews. I have 2 more lined up for the next few weeks. I'm getting sick of writing about my self lol.

A friend of mine who works in a university said something like 3-4 HUNDRED people applied for one position at her place. The most annoying thing is when places don't get back to you to say if you got the job or not. They could at least send an email or something

And every time i go to sign on, the jobcentre is a little more full of people who have lost their jobs or can't get a job.

venus in fairs there are 2 letters, one mentions waiting lists and one doesnt
the no waiting list letter means that there should be sufficient places to offer you a post (done in merit order of the candidates)
The waiting list letter may take a bit longer but you probably still will be offered a post, once candidates have dropped out etc.
I got one of each type and interviews were on same day in April for 2 areas, the non list letter was completed and place offered by end of June (43rd in merit list) The other area contacted me mid July with an offer.

Ohhhh i see. Okay. Thank you! :) Mine said nothing about a waiting list so hopefully that may mean it happens a little faster? (if I'm not being too naive!). Oh, i hope it happens soon! I lost my job in Feb and have been itching to start working again!

Also, how did you find out what place you are in the merit list?

Congrats on your successes. Have you started yet then? If so what is it like? Thanks x

Could be different in different areas of the country but where I am (London), officially, no. As far as August is concerned, you have to have started by 17th to automatically get something at the end of the month. But they are doing a supplementary pay run the week after and new starters can apply for advances. I don't know if it's either/or and I don't quite understand the mechanics of it, but that's the official line. There'll be plenty of info once you get there.
