hi i previosuly worked at bdc in barnsley, this was where new jsa claims were sent from the job centre to be processed. i was only there on a temp contract that lasted for 9 months however those that had fixed term contracts all had them extended and some in time were made permanent so there would def be a good chance of it continuing beyond the 18 months!
at the job centre you would prob have a face to face role with the customers which i myself would prefer having worked at bdc however rm friends who work there they are quite happy in both roles and it pays decent dosh and theres a pay rise every year!!
good luck with your job!0 -
attn: tarmis17, mpatel86 and others who might be able to advise.
I've been following this thread ever since applying for an EO position (IRC60227)with the dwp in May 2009. The details are as follows:
applied May 22, 09
online test date: not sure i remember
Interview date: 30 june, 09
checks all clear and crb received (after a lot of chasing up): 4 aug, 09
THE CALL: 10 aug, 09.
Now the only worry I have is that MY CALL, was not the kind of call I had expected. It was not to offer me an EO role like I had applied, but was for a Benefit Delivery Officer position in a location in east london where I live. The lad on the phone said I was being offered that as it would apparently be more convinient for me than a west london position which the IRC60227 was for in the first place.
While I appreciate the close proximity of the new location, I hope I am not being short-changed and that the BDO is not a lower rank/pay job than the EO which I applied and was interviewed for.
I am yet to agree on a start date with them as I have to give some notice to my current employer. They business should be ringing me back this week to agree on a date. I will appreciate if anyone could advice on the similarities/differences in the two posts (Executive Officer and Benefit Delivery Officer). The lad on the phone advised that the salary for the BDO was £23940. Anyone remember what it was for the EO in the advert?
Thanks a lot everyone. I will appreciate urgent responses.
Cheers
tarmis17 here i also applied for EO position start sal £23940. the position is more than likely a EO, but just in a different setting. mine is in a JCP. dont think you are going to be lower rank. hope this helps.0 -
Hey, been reading the posts for a while now and i'm in the same boat as a lot of you. Anyway, bit of an update on IRC 60076. Called the number on the waiting list letter and the girl said they were 150 vacancies and i fell outside the 150. She also said she didn't know if or when they'd be looking for more people and they hadn't done my background checks and wouldn't start them until there were more vacancies to be filled. So presumably if you applied for irc 60076 and haven't been called with a start date you could be waiting for some time! Anyone else with any updates?0

many thanks tarmis17.
I think I now have a better understanding of the whole scenario. it does appear an Executive Officer could be placed in a JCP or in a BDO. Neither location changes the fact that he/she is basically an EO. If the BDO position requires less contact with members of the public, then I'm all for it as my current position (for almost a year now) has been all about dealing with members of the public and I think I need to deal a lil bit with sheets of paper and a computer screen for a change.
Any advice on Saturday shifts as I really want to avoid those at all costs. Can this be agreed on prior to commencement? What about already scheduled/booked holidays....do I need to mention these when the business gets back to me?.
Any advice would be much appreciated people.
Cheers.0 -
well if you get a role in BDO its highly unlikely you would be asked to work saturdays, iv worked at BDO before and it was mon - fri with the option of vertime at a weekend.
however in the JC i think there are roles where you may be required to work on saturdays but i dont know very much about those.
maybe BDO would be ideal for you then?0 -
anyone got the number for the resource team up in newcastle to hand... not at home and i wanted to give them a ring today.

I also applied for irc60076, i was 58th and got a call today to start on 1st sept - good luck to you though, they might have a few dropouts etc and more may be needed sooner!0 -

I guess, the BDO is my best bet then.
With regards to THE CALL, has anyone received any proper documentation in the post or via email afterwards as proof of appointment.0 -
Congrats Majix! Did they by any chance call you on a witheld number?0
-
