Lili2008,
How's your first week working in the DWP going?0 -
Hi Grace (and everyone)
It's going great! There were a few teething troubles with my allocated role but I've sorted it out now and am doing lots of pre-course reading and buzzing round the office shadowing. There will be a couple of days safety training next week, which is mandatory, and some e-learning. There doesn't seem any mention of the weeks of out of office training that people in other areas of the country are having, but I prefer in-office experience anyway, as a learning style.
It's great to have something to get up for, the people I work with are helpful and friendly and the work seems interesting. Being able to walk to work is a real bonus, especally in this weather when getting the tube is a nightmare. All in all I'm really enjoying myself!
Grace are you in post yet? I can't remember where you were up to.:idea:0 -

Thanks for the reply, it sounds like the wait was worth it :-) I'm glad to hear you are enjoying yourself.

Hi everyone, have read this thread with a great deal of interest. For the record i applied for my AO post in the middle of April and then attended a interview on ther 25th April (a saturday). It was around 3 weeks later that i got a letter saying i was successful. I was then contacted by phone the last week of June and commenced training on the 27th July.
There has been a lot of discussion on our training course about how we are paid each month. I presumed it was annual salary divided by 12, but it appears that is not the case and your pay differs slightly each month depending on how many days there are in the month. Does anyone on here that works for the DWP know how it is worked out. I am trying to budget, and was left confused by payrolls explanation?
Many Thanks0 -
quick question which might have already been asked on this thread but sifting through 160 pages is quite daunting.
I have applied for 2 posts in DWP, both in different areas (one in Newport, one in Bridgend). Both jobs are for DWP but one is AO and one is AA.
I have done the lit/num test and interview for AO post. Also filled out and sent the CRB fors while in the interview. Just waiting on them to say if I passed the interview.
For the AA job, I have done and passed the online assessment and waiting for an interview.
As I have done the CRB forms recentlly (like a week ago), will I have to do them again when going for the interview for the AA job? (if I dont get the AO job that is)
Just asking as it might save a bit of time if I dont

Based on what I have read in this thread there is no definitive answer to your question. Some people have called up Newcastle to be told that it would be ok for a DS to be cross referenced for another application whereas others have been told it needs to be done for each application.
I would suggest that you get it done for every application just to be on the safe side. You don't want to be in a position where you have been waiting for 5 months only to be told that they never did get a DS check.
Hope this helps0 -
For anyone who attended interview in the CIA in Cardiff for IRC 60862 (Newport), have you heard anything yet ?
The piece of paper the Manpower staff gave us with the South West & Wales region number on is wrong apparently. I've been given this number instead 01912162433 but can't get anyone to answer it.
Beginning to understand everyone's frustration with this process.0
