haha what are the overtime rates for an EO out of interest?
I would consider it as well but my sporting season starts at the begining of October with matches on a Saturday so I'd prefer to play than not!
well i only have the word of the guy who walked me around yesterday but he was indicating near the £20 an hour mark, which is pretty tasty if you can get a 4 or 5 hour day.0 -
Sirena,
No not to my knowledge. My letter says to report to Bootle DBC St Martins House at 9, which was where my interview was based, so can only assume my training is not at Edge Hill.
Which Job Centre are you going to be based in?0 -
Does anyone know or is anyone waiting to hear about the AO positions in Plymouth IRC58718? Interview was back in April and I know that the CRBs are done, I have been given a HR number to ring but that are about as much use as a chocolate teapot! PLEASE HELP!!!!
I was part of that IRC, got the 'call' last week, had to turn it down because I had accepted another post. I asked why the long wait and the response was something about the irc covered the whole of Devon and Cornwall and it was difficult to match people to specific job centres.
Try getting hold of the person dealing with this irc at a local level and ask why the hold up.0 -

according to the eo who was talking me through things, also my friend is an AO at a JC and he was offered overtime rates for working a saturday when they were doing an open day for a new firm opening.0 -
Hi, sorry for the late reply!! Yes my position is for an EO in the Birmingham and Solihull area. I had another call this afternoon from the vacancy holder explaining that they only ever had 121 permanent positions and the rest will be temp roles. This was NEVER EVER mentioned on the job advert, it simply stated a permanent position and I have NEVER EVER been given any indication that this may not be the case. Apparently anyone who scored 31 or above in the interview was given a permanent job (I got 30). Also at any time they can give you 4 weeks notice, great. Hopefully due to the recession it will be a full 18 month contract but she kept using the phrase 'up to 18 months'.
The only good thing is that she said you can apply for other civil service vacancies straight away so I am hoping there will be lots of internal vacancies I can apply for.
I don’t want anyone to get the wrong impression that I am not grateful of a job, I know a lot of people are out of work but I am just very disappointed in the way the whole thing has been organised and dealt with.0 -
Hi - Is anyone starting their training in Bromley on 10th Aug ?0

Hi does anyone have any info about IRC 58761 - Greater Manchester ?
I had an interview on May 6th, success letter 20th May, CRB returned to me by Newcastle on July 17th but I'm still waiting for the call.
On my success letter it doesn't mention a waiting list but says once all you pre recruitment checks are done they will be in touch to advise if they can offfer me a post. Is this the waiting list ?
I've been phoning Newcastle 10 times a day on a couple of different numbers but nobody picks up.
I'm getting really worried and fustrated as I've seen so many of you now getting start dates. To top it all last week I received a letter saying I'd actually passed the tests for an EO position I went to at the City of Manchester stadium back in March, they told me I had failed at the time.
Any info about start dates on the above IRC would be much appreciated
cheers

Hi all, just to share my thoughts with you, I was ecstatic when I read on DWP's website what they can offer staff: flexible hours and part time working pattern to achieve strong work-life balance, I have young children so it would be difficult to work full time for at least a year, but I wanted to return to work and I felt DWP would make this a reality. So when they advertised for 5 districts in one go, and JCP staff informed me , apparently there are 500 positions, I thought Yes, this could be it. I am now informed that there are no part time positions in North North East london and city and east london and would I accept a full time position or withdraw!. I am still trying to see if I can secure childcare for Saturdays with the view to taking a full time post. I would welcome any views on this
Hanna, I read somewhere a few pages back that someone was told saturday working was in practice quite unlikely. Take the post and work it out in situ. On my letter of confirmation, they said they would let you know 'anti social hours' 4weeks in advance so that should give you time to sort childcare, if you need it.:idea:0 -

Really? I would have thought it just went on your flexi? But if not, then that IS good news if you want it and can get it. I imagine that, for those who can't do Saturdays, it'll mean no pressure as I'm sure there'll be plenty of people clamouring for overtime.:idea:0
