DWP employment waiting list

Hi, sorry for the late reply!! Yes my position is for an EO in the Birmingham and Solihull area. I had another call this afternoon from the vacancy holder explaining that they only ever had 121 permanent positions and the rest will be temp roles. This was NEVER EVER mentioned on the job advert, it simply stated a permanent position and I have NEVER EVER been given any indication that this may not be the case. Apparently anyone who scored 31 or above in the interview was given a permanent job (I got 30). Also at any time they can give you 4 weeks notice, great. Hopefully due to the recession it will be a full 18 month contract but she kept using the phrase 'up to 18 months'.
The only good thing is that she said you can apply for other civil service vacancies straight away so I am hoping there will be lots of internal vacancies I can apply for.
I don’t want anyone to get the wrong impression that I am not grateful of a job, I know a lot of people are out of work but I am just very disappointed in the way the whole thing has been organised and dealt with.
Yes, and you have every right to be. This whole hit-and-miss process is very good at removing the satisfaction and joy of a new job. But take the post. A bird in the hand etc...As I said to someone earlier in the thread, a good working kowledge of benefits can open many doors even if it's not within DWP. Charities, NGOs, local councils etc all need people who know their way through the benefits system and in 18 months you can build up a good knowledge and take advantage of many free training courses.:idea:0 -
Im sorry to hear that about your job! im quite scared actually because i applied for a job role that said permanant role and they have odne this to you.
Just wondering though, where you put on a waiting list in your letter or not??
I hate this waiting game
Yeah i was given a waiting list letter but then again Newcastle said that everyone was on a waiting list? Some people have got the perm role but it is all a bit confusing. First i was told i was 26/141 and we would all have jobs (no mention that they were not going to be perm) and now i am being told that there is a list of 190 and i am 130 something and the first 120 something got the perm role? I am not sure if maybe they merged two exercises together as i don’t know where all of the extra people have come from? They stopped interviewing in the first two weeks of April and i was told i was 26th after that time?
I am sure you will be fine. When was your interview? my IRC is 51784.0 -

Thanks Lili. I am taking the position but you are right, i am not feeling as i should about it but i am sure that once i start i will relax a bit. It is just so frustrating and uncertain but at least we are earning a wage and hopefully i will manage to get a perm position at some point? I would relax more if i knew the role was definitely for a full 18 months but the lady i spoke to today kept mentioning 'up to 18 months' etc etc.0 -

Uncertainty is crap, but you'll know more when you start. Just do your best and travel hopefully. It's all anyone can do in these uncertain times. Bear in mind what I said, though. There are many other employers who'll want you after 18 months at a Job Centre. I only twigged that because of a job agency circulation list I'm on that is constantly asking for those skills. Getting paid and getting free, marketable training is not really a bad way to spend the next 'up to' 18 months, no?:idea:0 -

I had an interview on May 6th, success letter 20th May, CRB returned to me by Newcastle on July 17th but I'm still waiting for the call.
On my success letter it doesn't mention a waiting list but says once all you pre recruitment checks are done they will be in touch to advise if they can offfer me a post. Is this the waiting list ?
I've been phoning Newcastle 10 times a day on a couple of different numbers but nobody picks up.
I'm getting really worried and fustrated as I've seen so many of you now getting start dates. To top it all last week I received a letter saying I'd actually passed the tests for an EO position I went to at the City of Manchester stadium back in March, they told me I had failed at the time.
Any info about start dates on the above IRC would be much appreciated
cheers
Andrew
Was IRC58761 for Central Gtr Manchester or East/West Gtr Manchester? The one in March was for East/West EO's. What a pain that you actually passed in March but didn't get an interview :mad:0 -
Well done, you have got there at the end, is the location and hours to your satisfaction (were you given option to select?) have you received email confirmation, all the best).
Permanat postion....i thought it was 18 month..so happy with that.
Full time..as i wanted...but i get the feeling they did have partime avaible (cant be sure) but they asked me is it full time you would like.
Locaiton- they did give me options...im happy with it...but not that one i wanted 1st choice...
i dont think they had EO postions in eastham, plaistow or stratford..has anyone got EO postions their?
Is anyone else working in East London?
How long is your training for and at which job centre?
Also has anyone tried to negotitiate on salary?
Who is the best contact to talk to regarding salary..? should we ask before we start or after we met our manager?0 -

very disorganused.....recruiment....
i dont blame everyone with their fustration..

Yeah, that's what happens when the private sector does public sector work...you really CANT have profit and public service in the same concept.:idea:0 -
Congratulations :j, I was wondering why this was the case (4 months gap...............????etc), perhaps they were recruiting in anticipation of possible openings or did not generate the required response. Is your contract for 12months or 18 months and are you doing F/T hours and which JCP office, Plaistow, Eastham, Stratford.
Since june i receivee letter they will be doing pre-recruiemnt checks..
i filled out my CRB at the intervire in march.
In the letter they stated it takes Maximum 20 days to complete checks..and if we dont chase up our refrees the job may be jeorpadised.
I gave it 3 weeks rang dwp regarding my checks. They kepy saying the person dealing with your checks not here..call him tomrw..etc..or we will call you back.
Then they said its another person deadling with your checks..
Then they said its with scotland disclosure.
Contacted SD , they sent it back to DWP as form not filled properly. 2 months of back and forth coz of this CRB form.
Finally after 2 weeks of constantly ringing and emailing everyday....in July...got call...but for some reason went to voicemail...so i call them bac...their number was busy...kept rining...got through..got offered a job...she was kinda rude...probaly exhusated talking to so many people..doesnt matter...got the job anyway..and hope dont meet any of the recruiment team...coz they made such a mess of everything..
Simple recrtuiment...and they make it shambles out of it.
But sooooo glad got the job..
I think i have waited the longest THIS year for the EO postion over 6 months. From closing date of applcaiton to starting date of job. Lucky im still working or i would bave been insane.,,,
But all those months missing out on better pay....and maybe a better job....less travel....cant wait....
anyway else starting in Aug east London?0 -
