Hanna, I read somewhere a few pages back that someone was told saturday working was in practice quite unlikely. Take the post and work it out in situ. On my letter of confirmation, they said they would let you know 'anti social hours' 4weeks in advance so that should give you time to sort childcare, if you need it.0

Since june i receivee letter they will be doing pre-recruiemnt checks..
i filled out my CRB at the intervire in march.
In the letter they stated it takes Maximum 20 days to complete checks..and if we dont chase up our refrees the job may be jeorpadised.
I gave it 3 weeks rang dwp regarding my checks. They kepy saying the person dealing with your checks not here..call him tomrw..etc..or we will call you back.
Then they said its another person deadling with your checks..
Then they said its with scotland disclosure.
Contacted SD , they sent it back to DWP as form not filled properly. 2 months of back and forth coz of this CRB form.
Finally after 2 weeks of constantly ringing and emailing everyday....in July...got call...but for some reason went to voicemail...so i call them bac...their number was busy...kept rining...got through..got offered a job...she was kinda rude...probaly exhusated talking to so many people..doesnt matter...got the job anyway..and hope dont meet any of the recruiment team...coz they made such a mess of everything..
Simple recrtuiment...and they make it shambles out of it.
But sooooo glad got the job..
I think i have waited the longest THIS year for the EO postion over 6 months. From closing date of applcaiton to starting date of job. Lucky im still working or i would bave been insane.,,,
But all those months missing out on better pay....and maybe a better job....less travel....cant wait....
anyway else starting in Aug east London?
I am startng finally in central London next Monday. I did my test in Feb and had my interiew in March. My tale is documeted here, and I am not the ony one. In fact, it's a common tale. That's what this thread is all about. For everyone who goes through smoothly there is a tale of woe. I don't think it's ever taken me from February to August to get a job before. But we are here to help each other.:idea:0 -
Has anyone who had an interview in Marlybone in April 2009 actually started yet?? (IRC58758 - AO Postion)

Hi, Just joined this forum yesterday, now very worried about my job offer! went for an interview for AO position last week, got a call from JCP to say congrats you have been successful but not for the AO job but the EO! as i didnt apply for this position i'm just a bit baffled and a bit concerned on how everyone is sitting around waiting for their start date, mine is supposed to be end of Aug depending on checks etc. All i want to do is work from Mon-Fri, 9-5 so what is happening with this Saturday shift? and whats with the 8-8 hour? Be gratful for some feedback as have not got a clue whats going on. Thanks0

i have been posting on here and would like to say that the DWP recruitment process sucks. i applied in May this year IRC60227, and it is only when you e-mail or call them can you sometimes get a response. luckily the people that are dealing with my checks seemed to be on the ball (sort of), everything has been cleared and hopefully i will hear sometime next week with start dates. well that is what they tell me, reality is another thing. the funny thing is that i asked after they had received all the references that what happens now, and the lady said well we are awaiting your CRB cert and there was a delay with your case at the vetting process. i was a bit puzzled as i was sent FROM the DWP my Disclosure Scotland basic disclosure cert. so they must have seen it, why are they now saying that they are waiting for it. so scanned it in and e-mailed to them. the lady replied back saying, on the database it had not been updated, all is in order. so if you dont keep on top of things, that is when things can go wrong. but what a bad organisation that they cant even update the database. oh dear.0

I am back from holiday and due to start on Monday, my EO post in Merseyside.
I have come back to a letter confirming my fixed term contract dates, ie 3rd August 2009 to 10th December 2010, so looks like the longer it takes to sort out, the shorter the posting, as it is now 16 rather than 18 months!! anyone else had this, dont know how they get away with it!
that does not sound good, especially for the people that have waited 6 months or so, you should query that, is not right.0 -
hello everybody i applied for a AO position based in Newcastle in July. I was successful at interview and assesment stage so was then put on a waiting list. after reading this forum i rang them yesterday to find out where i was on the list to be told i was 69th out of 70. They said they had taking on 40 out of that 70 so fingers crossed i hear something soon.0

well i only have the word of the guy who walked me around yesterday but he was indicating near the £20 an hour mark, which is pretty tasty if you can get a 4 or 5 hour day.
Hi Dan
Do you have a phone number for the IRC that we have been successful for. The one I have is never answered.
Thanks in advance0
