Thanks, Hows it going with you?
 Hi mommarat - received successful, no waiting list, undertaking pre employment checks letter, dated 24th June. Received my copy of DS yesterday from Newcastle. This was dated 7th July on the DS. So, it could be any day now, as it would appear that my checks are complete for this exercise. This DS confirms that they do the whole check again for a different exercise, because I already have the DS from the Cambs/Suffolk that I withdrew from. I bet you are mighty relieved now! Best of luck to you:T:T:T

I will continue to keep a check on this thread and post as and when I know anything. I think I would miss my daily ritual of checking in here to see what is going on with everyone. I remember somewhere on here someone saying we will all have a party when it reaches 2000 and to think its not far off 3000 now is frightening isn't it:beer:

thanks for the reply, on my DWP vacancy sheet that I applied for it states Executive Officer Band C 18-710 - 23,990

but if as you're saying the basic rate is £20,240 then thats excellent news

To be honest I'm just made up to be starting work as I graduated last year and have been a sorry statistic up until now really. Having said that I am looking to get onto the Fast Stream through the in service route after a year so would look to progress the pay grades in that manner. Obviously thats the plan and I'll have to see how things go, will bow to your experience on that one but I do look forward to working with everyone!

    Hi all

Has anyone received their confirmation letter with details of start date etc? I have received mine today and it says that the fixed term contract is only for 15 months, although the vacancy I applied for and the other letters I have say 18 months.

Does anyone know anything about this?

    Thanks
 The only thing I can add is that originally, the adverts were stating fixed term OF 18 months, that seems to have done a bit of a swerve (sleight of hand) now, as new ads are fixed term UP to 18 months. Moving goalposts spring to mind, and I suppose it can be anything, up until the day you sign. Not something I would have liked, but anything beats signing on;)

I was offered my first choice but that was the choice I made in early April and when I got the call today asked if I could change my mind which I was allowed to do. Part-time hours weren't a problem to get really and taking on board I would have to do 3 late nights asked if I could do these tue - thur and have mon and fri as non working days which was agreed. Have to do Sat 9 to 1 but if these hours aren't in when I start will have to do the 4 hours on a mon or fri, hope you are following (only wanted to do 25 hours) training full time but but was told to turn up at my office on the day at 9 so training must not start straight away. Don't know much more they are going to confirm in writing, oh! smart dress code because of meeting the public think thats it, its all a bit of a blur:eek:
wish you a prosperous future and thank you for the info

Well, I signed off at the JCP this morning ready to start training on Monday.

I have been provided with a one month bus/train/metro pass free of charge to help with travel to and from work, and this can be extended to a second month by telephoning JCP before this one expires. If you are in the West Midlands it's worth asking for information when you sign off.

Me too!! Strangely though I didn't get a travel pass like I was expecting, they are just going to put the money in my bank! Probably just different methods for different areas. I also enquired about the ADF to see if I could get some clothes and I was given an invoice for BHS for £95 to spend on shoes, shirts, trousers and ties which was extremely handy, especially as BHS had a sale on and I managed to kit myself out with a alot of smart clothes ready for work!! Really excited about Monday now, although also a little nervous and unsure of what to expect for my first day!!

Yay!! Well done and Congratulations!! Feels good doesn't it :D
  • I had my interview in April for an AO position in the Plymouth area. I received a letter in May informing me that I had been successful & was on the waiting list. I have tried since then to contact the DWP to find out how long the waiting list is and what my position is on the list. They never answer their phone & never reply to any emails. I have moved house & changed my landline number since the interview, & my mobile has no reception in the village I have moved to. I have emailed the person who sent me the letter in May my change of details along with a query about the waiting list but as she has not replied (to this or any previous emails) I do not know if their records have been updated. Last week I received my Criminal Records check in a DWP envelope (I have my mail redirected), so my checks are all back. I just wonder if anyone has any suggestions as to what my next step should be? I am currently on Income Support & will be seeing my Personal Advisor next week, so hopefully he may be able to shed some light on the situation although I somehow doubt that he'll know any more than me...

Depending on your email client, you could try sending an email and requesting a 'Read Receipt'. If they acknowledge it then you at least know someone has seen your email.
