does anyone know what happens with regard to sending out your contract and deciding your starting pay? I'm just worried that i'm due to start in a fortnight and not agreed any contractual obligation. With the EO banding being 18,700 - 23-900 does that mean you automatically start on the bottom or is it dependent on experience or where you were on the merit list when interviewed etc?

    Hi qwerty42

Where did you get the EO pay grade figures from? The national pay grade C (which is for EO's) is £20,240 to £24,230. You will start on £20,240 - not sure how you get to the higher salary in the range. Also as far as your contract is concerned you will get this after you start work. Your hours will be agreed with your line manager again after you start.

    Hi all

Has anyone received their confirmation letter with details of start date etc? I have received mine today and it says that the fixed term contract is only for 15 months, although the vacancy I applied for and the other letters I have say 18 months.

Does anyone know anything about this?

    Thanks

Everyone starts on the minimum but please beware it takes years to progress up the scale, I have been an EO for 8 years and still only about half way up the scale.
NoT dampening your mood welcome to the service :D

I've had two confirmation letters for my position, (worded exactly the same but signed by two different people) it gives start and end date for the contract which are 18 months apart.

Thrilled for you,:j Congratulations, did you get the location of your choice and any mention of new opening hours.. tell us all!
I was offered my first choice but that was the choice I made in early April and when I got the call today asked if I could change my mind which I was allowed to do. Part-time hours weren't a problem to get really and taking on board I would have to do 3 late nights asked if I could do these tue - thur and have mon and fri as non working days which was agreed. Have to do Sat 9 to 1 but if these hours aren't in when I start will have to do the 4 hours on a mon or fri, hope you are following (only wanted to do 25 hours) training full time but but was told to turn up at my office on the day at 9 so training must not start straight away. Don't know much more they are going to confirm in writing, oh! smart dress code because of meeting the public think thats it, its all a bit of a blur:eek:

You will spend the 1st week at least in the office shadowing other people. You need to given smart cards and registered on the computers before they can send you on training.
You can't actually speak to a customer till you have completed the keeping safe course or at least the workbook.
Jobcentre have been under staffed for some while now and as everyone has found out a long process for recruitment. We now have the opposite effect now the buildings don't have enough equipment and we spend half our days desk hopping and loggin in and out of computers.

    Good luck :T
