DWP employment waiting list

    My letter says
''we are now undertaking pre-recruitment checks and you will be contacted again once these are complete to confirm whether or not we are able to offer you a post".

Then it goes on to say if appointed and I havnt already given a NI number i will have too, to get on the payroll.

then it mentions HMRC but that wont be a problem because im only 17 and never had a job.

My letter mentions nothing of a waiting list. I want this job because it sounded so fun. I dont no how long the checks will take but on their website it said up to 20 days and I dont want to hastle them but I am concerned about this some people are on a waiting list thing.:(.

It would appear from the experience of others on this list that this letter is probably the best one, it seems to indicate that they have identified you as one of the best applicants from this exercise and will offer you a position subject to the pre-employment checks, these include the Disclosure Scotland check and an HMRC check to previous employer. If you don't have an checkable history of employment, they will contact your personal references.

If these checks are completed satisfactorily you can expect an offer of employment, but some areas appear to be trying to start a batch of newcomers together which means until all prospective employees have passed the checks they will not start telephoning candidates and making offers.

This is my best understanding of the process, others may make other observations.

    Good luck.
  • Well, I signed off at the JCP this morning ready to start training on Monday.

I have been provided with a one month bus/train/metro pass free of charge to help with travel to and from work, and this can be extended to a second month by telephoning JCP before this one expires. If you are in the West Midlands it's worth asking for information when you sign off.

does anyone know what happens with regard to sending out your contract and deciding your starting pay? I'm just worried that i'm due to start in a fortnight and not agreed any contractual obligation. With the EO banding being 18,700 - 23-900 does that mean you automatically start on the bottom or is it dependent on experience or where you were on the merit list when interviewed etc?

In my letter confirming my start date it states that i will be given a full contract of employment within 8 wks of employment.
It also states my salary, which is the bottom end of the scale. As far as i can tell, everybody starts at the bottom and it is not up for negotiation
One day I will be a [STRIKE]respectable[/STRIKE] Civil Servant.
Until then, I will be a secret MSE poster :shhh:
