DWP employment waiting list

Thanks! I will.
I don't know what 'being joint 1st' really means though. In many ways, it's worse than no info whatsoever as it allows a glimmer of faint hope, which could well turn out to be a false one. What are the chances of someone turning down a post like that in the current climate?
I would still think you have a decent chance. As the recruitment process takes so long, some people may have since found other employment and so turn the DWP down. People could also fail reference/crb checks.
Keep your chin up and something may happen0 -
I'm in a right muddle with all this. I had a letter stating I was successful but on a 12 month waiting list, but to pre-empt previous employers for refs and I also filled in a disclosure scotland to send back. I don't know where I am on the list or if I will be offered position or not. I had an job seekers review this morning and they were none the wiser either.
What a mess.0 -

'Orrible innit.
You can find out that stuff by ringing Newcastle (number on your letter). But try to ring before 9am (there was someone there at 8.40 on Monday) and expect to have to keep trying against the 'engaged' tone if you leave it any later. Also, try to have a list of things you want to know and have the job ref to hand. They can't tell you your chances, but they can tell you what you scored on interview and what position you are on the list.:idea:0 -
Thanks Lili20080

Lili.
You have absolutely nothing to worry about. In the current climate, top of the list means you will be required very shortly. Trust me.0 -

Thanks for that encouragement, but it's not quite the same as the pre recruitment check waiting list (I think I'm reading it right...there are 2 sorts of waiting list). They have filled the available posts for that recruitment exercise and my getting one is dependent on someone dropping out. Given that the wait between interview and results was shorter than they said it would be, and relatively swift (2 weeks), I think that lessens the chance of some of the more favoured candidates dropping out. Also, being told I am joint top is all very well, but joint top with how many? Could be one other, could be many.
Thanks anyway. I wish I'd started reading these threads sooner, people are being very supportive and helpful.:idea:0 -
I received a letter from the DWP on Thursday informing me that I had been successful at the interview stage and that the DWP were now conducting pre-recruitment checks. Only after they have been completed would they be able to confirm whether they will be able to offer me a position.
I have completed the CRB form, plus given permission for my employer to be contacted. I have also selected which location I would prefer to be employed at however am now a little worried that I don't know anything about the position. At my interview I asked if it could be confirmed that the position for which I was applying was permanent. The answer that I was given was that some positions were permanent whilst others were for a fixed term period. I'm not too sure that I would resign from a permanent position to take up a temporary position with the DWP but would walk over coals to be offered a permanent position.
I'm also concerned that the DWP will shortly be contacting my current employer, presumably to check my employment record, and I don't even know if I will be offered a job or be added to the waiting list. I'd rather my employer wasn't made aware that I was considering leaving unless I had a guaranteed permanent position at the DWP.
I'm sure that over the next month things will become clearer however this hasn't been the easiest of job applications0 -

Nonetheless, you will be offered a job shortly. They use up all the people on the lists eventually. I have just been offered a job today to start on 6 April, and I was waiting 3 months, but I was way down the list - not joint top!
I never worried though as I know their systems only too well, having A - worked for them before, and B - knowing a good many people that work for them, including many that are rather senior.
Best of luck, but I really do feel you are worrying for no reason.0
