no start date, no written confirmation - nothing. i am assuming that they do all this when the crbs are cleared but i agree with you, everyone keeps asking me when i am starting (like my gran when she rings me 2-3 times a week!) and i am getting fed up of saying 'no news yet' am beginning to think they think i am making it all up!!! lol

its been a bit patchy admin wise for me too - they sent out 2 copies of my test results to me, then 2 loads of crb forms each to be returned to different people then i had to ring up to find out who i should send it back to and it took forever to get hold of someone to speak to. then i had a number to ring a different person about another form and that line was permanently engaged (even at 8pm!) or off the hook!

i have just checked the payscales and wondered if anybody knew whether the start pay was negotiable or do they just start you at the bottom of the scale?

I have been told you start on the bottom pay scale, I start in a couple of weeks and have been told no different (actually not been told much at all!!)
  • i am going to try and negotiate as i was on more in my last post, although unemployed the past 6 months!, but in previous posts there has always been negotiation as to what point in the pay scales you start on - worth a try i figure? otherwise am going to be struggling, which seems to be my middle name!!!

I filled all the forms out at the interveiw stage, so may be just waiting for crb checks, just seems like a long time when you are waiting to start!

its worthwhile checking out with your referees if they have received any letters & if they have returned it back.......till they get all the paperwork back they dont process it further....CRB is not a problem because as soon as they receive it they send out the originals to the candidate....

The pay starts off crap and marginally improves before being curtailed for life at a measly level. I've not been impressed by that but a job is a job. I suppose it could be good CV experience because there's certainly no longevity in this position for anyone starting now.
