DWP employment waiting list

Hi everyone! Just wondered if anyone could help me? After months of waiting I recieved 'the phone call' last week offering my first choice location, and also giving me my start date of the 22nd June (with the taster day on the 18th).
I was just wondering what the training is like for the EO positions, if it would be worth reading up on benefits e.tc., and also if anyone is enjoying the training and the job e.t.c.
Anyone else been offered a position in North East Yorks and Humber area?
Be great to hear some feedback on everyones experiences to date!0 -
Like many others I have been following this thread with great interests and I guess it's some comfort that I'm not the only one in 'no mans land'.
I applied for an AO position in December in the Birmingham area, passed the tests, had the interview in January and recieved the "successful", but you're on a "waiting list", letter. In April [April 18th to be exact] I recieved the "We are now doing pre-recruitment checks" letter and with that I recieved a Dislosure Scotland form to fill in.
So I filled that in on the same day and sent it off. To this day, I still havent heard anything from DWP and I've called my recruitment team leader countless of times and, although she was nice, wasn't very helpful. I called her one time and I asked her :
"So when will you get back into contact with me?"
Her answer "When the recruitment checks are done"
So then I asked "When will the be?". Her answer "Uhm, when the recruitment checks are cleared" I then asked "Can you give me a time frame please?" obviously feeling frustrated at that point and all she had to say was "We are hoping they are done soon". I thought it was a complete waste of time and ended the conversation there and put the phone down.
I called Disclosure Scotland and they sent off the Disclosure Scotland certificate to DWP on the 18th of May. So I'm left wondering why it's taking so long for DWP to do my checks? Or at least send me a copy of the certificate? I did call on Tuesday and asked if they had recieved it, but apparently, the people dealing with that side of the recruitment process hasnt got back to my recruitment team leader. Something as simple as "have you recieved my DS?" is difficult for them to answer or find an answer to. At least if I know that they may have misplaced it, I can send in another one to save time. I'm understanding to the fact that it takes a long time but why can't they just be straight with people.0 -
Did your success letter mention 'waititng list'? I hope it ll be soon. Maybe they've filled the positions or maybe its a budget issue. However, you are in their records, it might be sooner than you imagine.
No, the original was not a waiting list. I replied to my original post with more info above ^^^0 -
yes I just saw it!Sorry about that. And I am very sorry about what has happened.0

Please forgive me if you already know this but there are the recruitment teams and the reference/checking teams. The applications are passed to the checking teams to undertake taking up the references/Disclosure Scotland etc. So if you spoke to the recruitment team about whether they had received your disclosure they probably would not know because it would be the checking team that would or would not know. I hope that makes sense but probably not.0 -
Thats great news - were you in the batch before me at Southampton? my interview was on the 19th April. When I spoke to the guy doing my recruitment checks, he told me that everyone in my batch hadnt passed their checks as yet and that the DS forms werent sent til they were.
So as you can imagine, I was expecting an ever longer wait to hear anything. BUT! I had a phone call yesterday morning from someone in jobcenre plus offering me a start date in Farnborough! Unfortunately I had to turn it down - Im down in portsmouth so Farnborough would be a pointless and long journey for me, but Im confused as to how they can offer me a position when only the day before the guy at newcastle said it would be weeks yet til all the checks were cleared???!!!! SO CONFUSING!
Obviously Im pleased that I got a phonecall - the woman I spoke to said that she was working her way down a list so not to worry. I said Id love to take a position if it was closer to home (as opposed to over an hour or more by car!!!) she said that i might get a phonecall back from her or someone else over the next few days for someone else...but who knows??!
Anyone else had this situation? x
My interview was 29th April. I put down Southampton as my first choice as thats where i live and i dont drive so im PRAYING thats where theyll offer me a position. Thats if they ever get the checks done!::rolleyes: :rotfl:0 -
Is anyone waiting to hear about 58407?0

OH MY GOD!!!!!
Just got "the call" - said that they can offer me a position STARTING MONDAY at the jobcentre which is literally a 5 minute walk frm me!!!!! Fantastic news. She said that all my refs have been checked, but that they hadnt done my DS form yet so its pending that but obviously i know that will all be fine. She said if it isnt, then my contract will be terminated.
Im SO pleased!!! They also said that id be sent on a training course in Slough and would that be a problem - I said no because my partner lives in Slough (hes trying to move down here but we were waiting for me to get my job offer) and it would mean seeing him for a week.
God im pleased! good luck everyone, hope you all hear soon!!! xx:)0
